The NXT Women’s title match between Raquel González and Xia Li was paused last night as the trainer checked on Li after she took this spot from the champion.
With the go ahead to continue, they went right to the finish. Big Mami Cool’s one-arm powerbomb, especially as fans were assuming Xia had sustained a broken rib on the springboard senton, probably wasn’t a lot of fun to take.
The fact the medical staff who checked on her allowed that to happen was probably a good sign, though. And follow up reports are also positive. Fightful Select’s sources say the Tian Sha member “appeared okay” backstage after the match.
Li vs. González almost had a hoss fight feel despite one of the wrestlers not having a traditional hoss build. It wasn’t great, but it was good enough to make me curious to see how it would have played out without the injury scare.
We’ll see if they run it back once Xia is officially cleared. She may not be big, but she’s certainly proven she’s a tough son of gun.
