WWE Money in the Bank 2021 results: Roman Reigns pins Edge, thanks to Seth Rollins

WWE closed out its Money in the Bank pay-per-view (PPV) tonight (Sun., July 18, 2021) at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, with a Universal championship match pitting Roman Reigns against Edge, as the two finally got the chance to have a straight up singles match.

It had that big fight feel to it. They played that up too, announcing them like this was a prize fight, and the crowd treated it accordingly. There were dueling chants, of course, and we couldn’t have missed that any more.

They worked the match in the same manner, playing up crowd response and making everything meaningful. They drew it out to start, and slowly ramped up the intensity as the match wore on. It felt more like an old school style match than anything we’re used to lately, though they didn’t go too far in that direction.

Naturally, there was a ref bump that opened the door for some chicanery. The Usos tried to interfere but the Mysterios prevented that from happening. Edge had Reigns on the verge of going out when Seth Rollins showed up to superkick him right in his dome piece.

Still, when Reigns recovered and went for a Spear to close it out, Edge delivered one of his own. But he only got a two count out of the deal (and a “this is awesome” chant, but whatever).

Rollins came back at this point, and Edge kicked him off the apron. When he turned around, he was hit with a spear and pinned.

Reigns is still Universal champion.

Rollins vs. Edge looks to be in the plans.
