Before getting into the main Money in the Bank pay-per-view (PPV) tonight (Sun., July 18, 2021) at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, WWE held its usual Kickoff show. This one actually featured a title match!
Indeed, Rey & Dominik Mysterio put their SmackDown tag team titles on the line against The Usos, who pinned them in a six-man tag team match on Friday Night SmackDown just days ago.
They did it again tonight.
The match was much better than the usual pre-show fare. Instead of a serviceable back-and-forth to get fans warmed up for the main showcase, they put together one hell of a battle with multiple false finishes, one of which earned a “this is awesome” chant from the live crowd.
The actual finish saw Jimmy roll Mysterio up — with an assist from Jey — to score the pinfall to become champs for the seventh time.
