Jim Ross says he’s not quitting after WWE Dynamite flub

Jim Ross botched the ending of last night’s (June 30) episode of Dynamite when he said the following while trying to hype up AEW’s return to the road next week:

“Tickets are available at AEWTix.com. Folks, there’s nothing in your life that will top seeing a live WWE Dynamite!”

The thing that amazed me the most about his error is that he actually uttered the initials “AEW” moments before accidentally calling it “WWE.” I was also amused at the idea that, even if he said it correctly, he’s telling me that seeing Dynamite live is a bigger deal than major life moments like weddings, child birth, watching Conan O’Brien’s talk show, etc. I get that hype is part of the game, but come on now.

Anyway, this is the internet, so there was a wide range of reactions to JR’s mistake. Some people enjoyed it for a good laugh while others think he should be fired. You know the deal by now.

Ross responded to his gaffe on Twitter by saying there’s no excuse for it, but he’s not quitting:

This isn’t the first time that Jim Ross has accidentally used the WWE initials in place of AEW. Earlier this year he referred to AEW world champion Kenny Omega as the WWE champion, and Omega later mocked him for it. Last night’s call was the second time JR has made this kind of mistake.

He’s not quitting, which means it’s probably going to happen a third time. So I’ll leave it to the Cageside community to have some fun with this one and let me know in the comments below how you predict JR’s next WWE / AEW mix up will occur.
