When Samoa Joe was brought back to WWE to work for the NXT brand, just two months after he was released by the company, they immediately made clear on television that he would not be coming back as a wrestler. Instead, he would be an enforcer of sorts for General Manager William Regal, although he would be allowed to get physical provided he was provoked first.
I don’t know about you, dear reader, but I don’t know if I believe them anymore.
Look, they wouldn’t clear Edge for a long time, and they wouldn’t clear Daniel Bryan for a long time, and they wouldn’t clear Christian for a long time, and every one of those guys ended up cleared and wrestling for the company. I’m not saying the same will ring true for Joe, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t look like it.
Part of that could be simple hope on my part. But it’s been all of two weeks and there are already no less than three compelling matches for Joe in NXT.
First, Joe got in NXT Champion Karrion Kross’s face and they teased something out there last week. Then, this week, they went back to it again:
Later, Adam Cole (BAY BAY) tried to test Joe and found himself choked the hell out:
Finally, Pete Dunne was found strolling around looking for trouble and the NXT Twitter is event getting in on what they’re doing with this:
Here’s how Dunne said it:
Sure, maybe WWE convinced Joe to come back to move him to NXT to just be a tough guy next to the General Manager. That could very well be the case. But, man, they’ve got three incredible matches lined up if they decide to clear Joe to wrestle.
Please let it happen.
