Rey Mysterio doesn’t want to even think about wrestling against his son

Dominik Mysterio made his in-ring debut for WWE last year at SummerSlam in a Street Fight against Seth Rollins. Rollins’ was a Messiah who was collecting disciples (and eyeballs), so the idea that Dominik might turn on his father and join up with Seth always seemed like a possibility. Thankfully WWE didn’t rush into a father versus son story, and now the Mysterios are actually the SmackDown tag team champions.

In an interview with Metro, Rey was asked about the possibility of wrestling against Dominik. He admitted that they’ve talked about doing it, but says it’s no longer on the table:

We actually talked about this a while back, when my son started to train.

The more and more we got to spend time together in the ring and outside of the ring, it came to the point where me and my son were like, there’s no need.

The connection here is so beautiful, the love – more than father and son, I think we’re like best friends. For the moment, there’s no time for us to even be thinking, ‘how would it be like to face each other?’

We’re enjoying such a great moment right now within our personal lives, within our wrestling careers.

For me, it’s a complete blessing, before I end up retiring – to have been able to share these moments with my son. So that thought of possibly facing each other, I think was thrown down the trash a while back.

I think Rey might be working here. After all, he sounded very eager to toss his son out of the Royal Rumble match earlier this year.

Do you hope to see a feud between Rey and Dominik Mysterio before the elder Mysterio hangs up his boots?
