Kofi Kingston is getting another shot at the WWE championship

New, 12 comments

MVP has been antagonizing Kofi Kingston for a number of weeks in what has quickly become yet another compelling story for the latter. It’s arguably a continuation of the story of his WrestleMania triumph and subsequent WWE title reign. That reign ended infamously, an eight second squash match at the hands of Brock Lesnar.

He’s since been back in the tag team division.

Until now.

Indeed, Kingston wasted no time challenging Bobby Lashley to a WWE championship match at the upcoming Money in the Bank pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for Sun., July 18, 2021, in Fort Worth, Texas, on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, just one night after Lashley defeated Drew McIntyre to finally push him out of the main event scene.

Lashley immediately accepted.

There are some details to work out. Later on this evening, Lashley will wrestle Xavier Woods in a Hell in a Cell match, a match he agreed to so he could ensure his title defense is a straight up singles match against Kingston and Woods won’t get involved. We’ll update this post once all that plays out.

The current Money in the Bank match card:

  • Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Kofi Kingston (WWE championship)
  • Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match
  • Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match
