WWE Raw results, live blog (June 21, 2021): Hell in a Cell fallout

New, 361 comments

WWE Monday Night Raw comes waltzing back into our lives tonight (June 21, 2021) from the ThunderDome at Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida, featuring all the fallout from the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view (PPV) that went down just last night in the very same venue.

Advertised for tonight: Drew McIntyre is no longer able to challenge for the WWE championship while it’s in Bobby Lashley’s possession, so we’ll see where both of those two go from here. The build to Money in the Bank next month begins proper. A possible Raw tag team title match, and more!

Come right back here at 8 p.m. ET when the Raw live blog will kick off once the show starts on USA. It will be below this line here. (REMINDER: NO GIFS OR PICS ARE ALLOWED IN THE COMMENTS SECTION. OFFENDERS WILL BE BANNED.)

WWE RAW RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR JUNE 21

If you think you are going away, then won’t you let me have my say? Can’t you see I’ll plead with you? I’ll do anything you want me to, but first I have to liveblog this here pro wrestling show for these folks.

The show opens with Bobby Lashley and his entourage making their entrance.

Montel Vontavious Porter interviews Bobby and he talks about beating Drew McIntyre last night. MVP looks around the lounge and sees two alpha males, five beautiful women, and a bottle of champagne, and that makes for a hell of a party. Porter offers a toast—

Enter the New Day, with a cart full of actual toasted bread.

They want to join in and they do so by throwing the toast into the ring. Montel says this clown nonsense is exactly why they were watching Hell in a Cell and not main eventing it like Bobby Lashley there. Once we get back to live crowds, they’re still gonna be cosplaying and playing video games while he and Lashley enjoy the finer things.

Kofi Kingston says they’re not going anywhere and it’s well documented that he surrounds himself with his friends and family rather than users that will chew you up and spit you out. He’s got a question for Bob— will MVP and his special lady friends will be coming around after he beats him for the title?

Lashley says he doesn’t have anything to worry about because he’s never losing the title to somebody too busy dancing and making pancakes to realize that he lost the title. There’s a hierarchy in this world, and Bob is on top while New Day are way down at the bottom.

Kofi reminds him that he beat Daniel Bryan to win the title in the first place and just last month, he beat him in this very ring! Kingston rolls the footage to make his point. So Kofi challenges him to a rematch at Money in the Bank and Bob accepts, but he wants a match against Xavier Woods tonight.

Xavier calls him a toxic testosterone meathead and admits that everybody thinks he’s the weak link in New Day but he’s got his accolades too, most importantly being an 11-time tag team champion. And one more thing... their match tonight will be inside of Hell in a Cell!

And on that bombshell, we go to break.

Back from commercial, commentary confirms that the Hell in a Cell match between Woods and Lashley is happening tonight.

We see footage of AJ Styles and Omos running into Viking Raiders backstage earlier.

AJ calls them zeroes before changing his mind and telling them they’re nothing. Ivar says last week they set out to raid and come out with a phenomenal victory. Styles calls it sloppy luck and says if they want to see a real raid, they’ll watch him beat Ricochet to a pulp tonight.

Ricochet gets an inset promo where he says lots of people are gonna do their best to be Mr. Money in the Bank but their best isn’t good enough because he’s willing to do whatever it takes to win.

AJ Styles vs. Ricochet (Money in the Bank Qualifying Match)

Ricochet going hard out the gates, kickflip moonsault comes up empty and Styles lawn darts him into the post! And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, Styles is still in control but Ricochet lands a few back elbows for separation. Whip reversed, shoulder block takes him out, drawing him up, the One and Only with body blows, the single knee facebreaker, off the ropes with a chop, back suplex, AJ lands on his feet!

Springboard crossbody from Ricky, corner lariat, whip across, northern lights suplex rolled into a sheerdrop brainbuster... STILL NO! Fireman’s carry, Styles slips out, catches a kick and hits an enzuigiri of his own! Argentine backbreaker rack into a powerbomb... NOPE! Powerbomb lift, Ricochet slips out, right hands, Styles Rush, duck the lariat, enzuigiri connects, nobody home on the Pele, Everest German... NOT HAPPENING!

Calf Killer applied, Ricochet gets the ropes but the damage is done, Ushigoroshi follows it up, the Viking Raiders come down to beat Omos up at ringside! The giant shrugs them off at first but they sidestep him on a charge and he takes out the timekeeper’s barricade! Phenomenal Forearm countered...

Ricochet wins by pinfall with Recoil to qualify for the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

Commentary hypes up the rest of tonight’s show for us.

We see Randy Orton backstage when Matt Riddle scoots up with a load of RK-Bro merch. He talks about how cool it is that they’re both qualifying and he’s gonna hide his stash in the briefcase if he wins. His stash... of Whoppers. He doesn’t trust the Burger King, you see. Orton snaps at him and asks what he wants.

Riddle says he knows Randy won Money in the Bank before and maybe he has some pointers, bro to bro? Orton sighs and tells Matt to stay out of his way. Riddle points out that that will be hard if they both win their qualifiers, but Randy stares at him until he finishes and says it won’t be awesome for Matt.

Riddle wishes him luck and we go to break.

Back from commercial we get footage of the mysterious Piper Niven beating Naomi last week in Eva Marie’s name.

Eva Marie is interviewed backstage and she says it’s been five years since she stepped in a ring so everything had to be perfect. So last week she went and got a mani/pedi and unfortunately caught a cold but she knew the WWE Universe was dying to see her, so she arranged for her protege, who she tries to let introduce herself before cutting her off and saying that her name is Doudrop.

Asuka and Naomi get an inset promo.

Naomi says she was thrown off when Doudrop subbed in but that’s not enough to dim the glow, and she’s confident because Eva Marie isn’t ready for her or Asuka.

Doudrop and Eva Marie make their entrance to send us to break.

Asuka & Naomi vs. Doudrop & Eva Marie

Asuka and Marie to start, tag to Doudrop, collar and elbow, Asuka lighting her up with punches and kicks, whip across, the Empress catches herself in the ropes and hammers her with a back elbow! Lariat connects but Niven just shoves her right back! Sidestep the charge, lighting Piper up with kicks, Codebreaker connects, tag to Naomi!

Niven overwhelms her, cannonball in the corner, dragging her into her corner, stomps, Eva tags in, cover... NOPE! Marie panics but Doudrop doesn’t want to tag her in! Naomi from behind...

Asuka & Naomi win by pinfall with a schoolboy pin from Naomi on Eva Marie to qualify for the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

We get a recap of Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair from last night.

We see five-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville walking backstage to send us to break.

Back from commercial, we get a recap of our opening segment, because Raw is three hours long. (Three hours long.)

We see Bobby Lashley shadowboxing backstage to get ready.

Five-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville are in the ring to discuss an incident from last night.

They invite Rhea Ripley to the ring and she obliges. Pearce says they know she disqualified herself intentionally to keep her title safe. Rhea says she’s seen Charlotte Flair abuse the same rules over and over and she only did what would have been done to her if the roles were reversed.

Enter Charlotte Flair.

She says last night Ripley proved to her that she’s smarter than she thought, and she’s actually quite clever. She proved herself to be a strategic competitor, like she is, but she’s still going to destroy her. Deville grants her the rematch at Money in the Bank.

We see footage from earlier today of Natalya and Tamina doing a photoshoot when, in a reverse of the previous segment, they have to go look at the practice ring and ask Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose to stop training. Sexy Muscle Friends point out their hypocrisy, but the tag champs point out that media is part of their obligation.

Brooke challenges them to a match, the champs try to hit the ring but they get kicked back to the floor!

Randy Orton makes his entrance to send us to break.

John Morrison vs. Randy Orton (Money in the Bank Qualifying Match)

Collar and elbow, Orton with a side headlock, Morrison gets him in the corner and forces the break. John with a front chancery, grinding him down, nearfall attempt off a roundhouse kick and he follows it up with a top wristlock. Arm wringer, Randy pokes the eye, mat slam, whip across and a clothesline sends Morrison to the floor!

Orton follows, brawling ensues, back suplex onto the announce table! Miz jaws at Randy and wheels himself away from the Viper as we go to break.

Back from commercial, Orton hammers Morrison in the corner and does the Garvin Stomp! Reverse chinlock applied, action to the floor briefly and then back inside as John goes back to the arm, applying a cross armbar. Pressing the attack, double wristlock attempt, Randy with punches to the ribs to force a break!

Backing Morrison into the corner, right hands, mounted punches, hanging DDT! Going to that special place, but Miz shoots Randy with the Drip Stick! The Viper stalks after him, Morrison capitalizes, schoolboy for two! Big uppercut from Orton, Matt Riddle scoots down and gives chase to the Miz!

Morrison snaps Randy’s neck over the ropes, goes up top...

John Morrison wins by pinfall with Starship Pain to qualify for the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

We get a recap of Alexa Bliss vs. Shayna Baszler.

Nia Jax and Shayna and Reginald are walking backstage when they run into an interview.

Nia says Reggie knows she’d never purposefully hurt him, and Baszler mocks him before saying nobody in that locker room scares them and nothing can stop them from qualifying for Money in the Bank.

Alexa Bliss makes her entrance to send us to break.

Back from commercial we get hype for some award Titus O’Neil got, which is cool, he’s a good dude, happy for him.

Nikki Cross cuts a promo from Gorilla wearing a superhero mask and copious amounts of blue eyeshadow and hoo boy. It’s a lot. Anyway she talks about representing everyone no matter their shortcomings and the camera pans out to reveal her whole super suit complete with tiny cape.

Wow.

Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross vs. Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler (Money in the Bank Qualifying Match)

Cross and Baszler to start, circling, collar and elbow, Shayna with an armbar takedown of sorts but they keep jockeying for position and Nikki ends up on the apron. Slingshot into a cover, no good, Nia tags in, drama with Reginald on the floor and Cross dives on them with a crossbody to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Cross in control, she tags Bliss in and hits a bulldog that sets up Insault to Injury... NOPE! Jax tags in and takes over, hossing away on Alexa and making the tag to set up the heat segment. Bliss gets a Yoshi Tonic at length, crawling... TAGS MADE!

Cross off the ropes, Nia catches the crossbody, she floats over, dropkick, fired up, charging into a boot, malfunction at the junction for the former tag champs, bickering, Jax decides to walk out and Nikki plants Baszler with a back suplex! Bliss up top, she hypnodommes Reginald, raising her hand and making him try to slap Nia but he misses!

Back inside, Cross capitalizes...

Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross win by pinfall with an Oklahoma roll from Cross on Shayna Baszler, qualifying for the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

Drew McIntyre is warming up backstage when five-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville roll up.

Pearce asks how he’s doing and Deville reassures him he doesn’t have to do this, but he says he does, and he’s pretty sure they haven’t approached Lashley and told him he could get out of Hell in a Cell, and his body is doing a lot better than his mind. He quotes Churchill’s “never surrender” speech and says he’s gonna beat Matt Riddle tonight.

Riddle makes his entrance and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Jinder Mahal, Jeff Hardy, Cedric Alexander, and Sheamus are all complaining at five-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville about not being booked in Money in the Bank qualifiers.

Deville tells them to relax and she understands their frustration but these matches are final. Sheamus asks her not to listen to these bleedin’ gobshites, he should be entered automatically as United States Champion. Pearce asks if his nose is good and he can defend his title but the Celtic Warrior complains about his nose hurting and wanders off to go see a doctor.

Jinder asks Adam what happens if one of the entrants gets injured and asks to be considered as an alternate if they do.

Drew McIntyre vs. Matt Riddle (Money in the Bank Qualifying Match)

Collar and elbow, McIntyre backs him into the corner and referee Rod Zapata separates them. Roundhouse kick from Riddle gets a lariat, but Drew is hurting and slow to capitalize! Into the corner, big chops, big release suplex! Matt fires back with chops and forearms, into the corner, McIntyre with rights of his own, buckling him in the corner!

Drawing Riddle back up, front chancery, another big release suplex... NOPE! Matt with forearms, caught with a shoulder block, only two! Karelin lifts, Riddle gets two and Drew reverses to a backbreaker but he’s too hurt to capitalize! Knocking Matt off the apron with a right hand, overhead belly-to-belly suplex on the floor, Riddle slides back inside and we go to break!

Back from commercial, trading shots, exploder suplex from Riddle and he follows it up with a Penalty Kick! McIntyre rallies and manages a kip-up but he’s totally destroyed and heaving as he paces around the ring. Underhooks, Future Shock blocked, jackknife from Matt for two!

Big lariat, taking Riddle into the corner and setting him up for the inverted Alabama Slam! Cover gets two, back up top and jockeying for position, Matt crotches Drew, back elbows, Tree of Woe... SPIDER GERMAN SUPLEX! Randy Orton comes to the stage and we go to break.

Post-match, Riddle tries to get a droplet of approval from Randy Orton, but dad is unimpressed.

Kofi Kingston is backstage hyping Xavier Woods up to send us to break.

Back from commercial we get a recap of the breakup between Elias and Jaxson Ryker.

We cut to Jaxson Ryker backstage snapping a strap when Mansoor rolls up to ask for advice.

He sputters and asks what exactly Ryker is doing but doesn’t get an answer and leaves him to it.

Jaxson tells him never to let his enemy escape, because more often than not, those closest to you are wolves in sheep’s clothing. That’s why next week he’s got a strap match against Elias, and there’ll be no place for him to run or hide. Elias is about the music, but the tune heard around the world will be the sound of the strap striking his flesh.

Mansoor thanks him and turns around to leave, running into Mustafa Ali.

Ali says he’s asking the wrong questions of the wrong people and he needs to ask how all the superstars competing in qualifiers stole those spots from the two of them. He advises him that if you can’t even get the opportunity to climb the ladder of success, you have to build your own ladder.

We cut back to Jaxson flagellating himself with the strap. Cool.

Commentary hypes up a last chance triple threat qualifier between the losers of the men’s singles qualifiers for next week.

New Day make their entrance to send us to break.

Off the ropes, ducking lariats, sliding under, chop block takes the champ off his feet! Basement dropkick, wailing on Bob with a kendo stick! To the floor, more kendo stick shots, choking him with it, Lashley rips it away from him but Woods lands a rolling elbow and some kicks! Off the ropes, la casadora into a facebuster... NO!

Tornado DDT connects, still no! Xavier maneuvering a table around but Bob gets him up for a powerbomb! Woods slips out, superkick puts the champ on the table... LIMIT BREAKER THROUGH THE TABLE CANNOT KEEP THE ALL MIGHTY DOWN FOR THREE! Duck a knee, Lashley pops up and throws Woods into a chair wedged in the turnbuckles!

Lying in wait... SPEAR! THE HURT LOCK IS IN!

Bobby Lashley wins by submission with the Hurt Lock.

Post-match, Lashley attacks Woods some more and MVP slides in the cage, locking the door behind him!

The Lashley keeps attacking Xavier, tormenting him in the Hurt Lock, while Kofi struggles desperately to help him!
