Liv Morgan is right about Ruby Riott’s release

Liv Morgan, who’s now had two tag partners and dear friends (in addition to a business partner) released in just over the past year, tweeted about the shocking news Ruby Riott was among WWE’s latest cuts.

And she is absolutely right.

We’ve gotten a sense of just how good Ruby Riott is during her time in WWE. I can’t think of an irredeemable Riott Squad match where Ruby got a few minutes to work.

It wasn’t terribly flashy, but Riott was someone WWE leaned on during Ronda Rousey’s babyface push, and that allowed her to demonstrate just what a “good hand” she is. In singles action, off the top of my head, I’d absolutely recommend the NXT Women’s title Threeway Ruby had with Asuka and Nikki Cross at TakeOver: Chicago in 2017. And she got about 15 minutes with Charlotte Flair the following year at Fastlane for what was a fun match.

But before signing with WWE, she spent at least five years as Heidi Lovelace regularly doing thrilling work in companies ranging from Chikara to CZW. And she’s only 30 years old.

Morgan is right about her friend, but she doesn’t quite go far enough.

The company that signs Heidi Lovelace will win, but everyone who loves watching wrestling (without company blinders) also wins.
