It’s Tuesday night. Let’s do this! We open with a video package showing highlights from In Your House on Sunday. All of that ended with a despondent William Regal saying that “it’s time for a change.” We’re about to find out what that change is — Mr. Regal has arrived. The fans are already chanting his name and bowing as he makes the long walk to the ring.

Regal: “Thank you. Um, but please just allow me to get a few words off my chest. I’ve been with NXT from the very beginning, day one, in one way or another. I started down there at the announce desk, hello Beth, and I got to call the very first Takeover. I have a lot to say. I’ve sat for the first few years and watch NXT become this wonderful beautiful thing that it became and the incredible competitors that came through here and the shows we started to do around the United States, and then going to England and Japan and Australia, and then to my hometown of Blackpool in 2015. My nieces got to sit and watch the show with me. A lot of things that you don’t know about, and every spare moment that wasn’t spent with my family, was spent thinking about NXT, making this the place that we wanted to be and constantly working on that and trying to get everything as correct as possible for every competitor who came through that door and announcer that sat at that desk. But most of all for those of you who took us to San Jose and Houston and Portland, and I’ve finally decided with the chaos that’s been going on here, I’ve given you everything I can give you now. Because of you and the competitors and the staff and you who has sat in your front room giving us your precious time, I don’t think I’m capable of giving you what you deserve any more. And so I think it’s time for me to...”

He’s interrupted by the music of Karrion Kross. Kross and Scarlett saunter to the ring and Scarlett already has a mic in her hand, while Kross carries the NXT title under his right arm. He hands it to Scarlett and walks over to Regal with the mic. “Her and I always knew this day would come, we just didn’t know when. The moment we heard all of that, we had to come out here to see it and feel it for ourselves. Are you crying, Mr. Regal? You are completely pathetic. One week ago I told you that you lost control of this roster, and you knew it was true, I saw it in your eyes. And at Takeover when I punched a hole through the Mount Rushmore of this place, you knew I could control this place with violence. And now I want you to say it. I want you to tell these people you are leaving! And then I want you to walk your ass up that aisle and never come back. Say it. Kross was right. Say it!! Kross, conquers, all. We ain’t got all night Mr. Regal. Tick tock.”

Samoa Joe’s music hits!! Joe marches down to the ring in a sharp blue suit and he too has a microphone. “Mr. Regal, I believe you wanted to speak with me.” Regal: “I did Joe but not in these circumstances. I wanted to talk later — but you’re here. Because of my love for NXT, I think everybody deserves a General Manager who can hold the position with the integrity and respect it deserves, so I would like you to be the new General Manager of NXT.” Joe: “Regal, Regal, please please please. I can say without a shadow of a doubt my answer is absolutely not. I know you’re weary, I know it’s worn on you, but in the seven years of NXT you scoured the world and brought the best here. myself included. You took this company and plucked it from obscurity and made it an international phenomenon. You cast a long shadow and have large shoes to fill, so I can not accept. But, I’ll make you this offer. See I’ve always understood that I made your life hell while I was here, but I always afforded you respect. With that being said, I’d be more than happy to ensure that you receive the respect you deserve from EVERYBODY.” He gets right in Kross’ face as he says that. Regal: “That’s an interesting idea. But if that is something I’m willing to do Joe, there are a few conditions. One, you can’t be a competitor. Two, you can not lay a hand on anyone... unless provoked.” Joe: “Mr. Regal, I accept your offer, which only leaves one more question to be answered — what are you still doing in this ring?” He gets in Kross’ face again. “Tick tock, young champion.” The crowd chants “Joe’s gonna kill you” as Scarlett and Kross slowly (and reluctantly) take their leave. The NeXTras start chanting “na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye.” Joe and Regal shake hands. Commercial!

We have a video from earlier today from the Grizzled Young Veterans. James Drake: “Tonight lads, tornado rules, no tags, no excuses.” Zack Gibson: “You’re going to find out exactly why we are Grizzled Young Veterans. Tonight you’re going to get your heads kicked in!”

Imperium (Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel) vs. Breezango

The announcers are spending more time discussing events outside of the ring than in it, but Vic Joseph at least reminds us Imperium’s leader WALTER has been the UK champion for 800 days. Fandango fires off some nasty chops and a leg drop before pulling down the ropes, Tyler Breeze does a dive and misses hard (splat) then doing a suicide dive to wipe out Imperium on the floor. Barthel throws Breeze into the ring to distract Fandango and he gets knocked off the ropes. Fandango makes a comeback with uppercuts and knees as we go to commercial.

Imperium took control during the commercial and Fabian Aichner makes a cover for a near fall right as we come back. He pounds on Fandango and tries to leap to tag Breeze but eats a scoop slam for his trouble. Marcel Barthel tags in to unload with more kicks and starts to rag doll Fandango around the ring. Wade Barrett says this has moved beyond a simple match to become nothing but punishment. Breeze is marching back and forth with the tag rope in his hand, seething at what he sees but waiting for his chance to legally tag in. Fandango goes for a roll up pin, kicks Barthel away, but he gets whipped into the heel corner and bonks Aichner. He has to crawl even further now. Barthel tries to cut him off but Fandango hits a high back body drop and Breeze finally gets his tag. Aichner cuts him off immediately with a bit clothesline but Breeze gets the inside cradle for the pin!

The winners of this contest: Breezango

Breeze tried to roll out of the ring but got caught by the leg and dragged back in for a two on one beating. Fandango tried to make the save and got wiped out. Aichner grabs the Imperium flag and both members drape it over his body like a flag on a coffin.

Backstage William Regal has security trying to break up the competitors in the fatal five-way (sans Kross of course). Regal says Cole and O’Reilly can pick their opponents for a match next week. Cole: “Regal what is wrong with you I should be fighting him!” They go after each other again and Cole makes the mistake of shoving Samoa Joe in the process. Joe rips his jacket off and chokes out Cole! “And when he wakes up you tell him Mr. Regal expects his decision.” KUSHIDA makes his walk to the ring and we go to commercial!

Santos Escobar: “Bronson Reed, what happened at Takeover was a tragedy. I had the North American title in my hands, I saw my reflection in it, and it was the most beautiful thing I had seen in my life. But you had to do it again. You didn’t just squish me, you put me through a wall. I’m coming for you, one on one. I’m going to pick you up just like I did at Takeover, but this time gravity will do the rest. I will be the next North American campeon.”

KUSHIDA (champ) vs. Trey Baxter (cruiserweight open challenge)

We get a video package where Trey Baxter tells us he’s “all heart.” He’s already his own Titantron entrance and music, the announcer tells us he hails from Jackson, Tennessee and weighs 175 pounds. The referee holds up the cruiserweight title and calls for the bell!

KUSHIDA with a takedown and a near fall after spinning around his opponent. KUSHIDA gets a single leg but Baxter rolls through for a one count. Baxter goes for a headlock, KUSHIDA gets up and ducks under but Baxter gets another roll up. Baxter with a head scissor and KUSHIDA goes to the ropes to recover. Baxter charges, KUSHIDA floats him to the apron, Baxter kicks him in the head and knocks him down leaping off the ropes. KUSHIDA rolls out for a breather. Baxter teases a dive but flips back into the ring. KUSHIDA and Baxter duel on the opposite side and Baxter kicks him in the knee while they’re in the ropes. This time Baxter does do a dive to wipe KUSHIDA out on the ramp. Kyle O’Reilly has come out to watch right as we go to commercial!

O’Reilly is getting closer and closer to the action as the cruiserweight title defense continues. Baxter eats an enzuigiri and stumbles to the ropes. KUSHIDA pulls him up and the two trade backspring moves off the ropes as O’Reilly nods in approval. Baxter blasts KUSHIDA with a forearm and he responds with kicks. Baxter with a Spanish Fly! He goes outside to the ropes and hits a 450. One, two, KUSHIDA kicks out. O’Reilly keeps watching and nodding his head. KUSHIDA gets up slowly and Baxter sets him on the top rope, where he promptly goes for a Hoverboard Lock and jumps off the ropes to snap the arm. He applies it again on the canvas and Baxter immediately taps!

The winner and still cruiserweight champion: KUSHIDA

O’Reilly applauds and taps Baxter on the shoulder as he leaves. He gets in the ring. “I want to fight the best and you want to fight the best. You and me next week, what do you say?” KUSHIDA accepts. The match is booked! Meanwhile Franky Monet is backstage. “Miss McKenzie, Presley and I are here to make the people happy, and what they want is more Monet. So next week will be the encore performance of my world premiere.” She sees Aliyah and Jessi Kamea and goes to talk to them, and Robert Stone interrupts. She was saying they had it won until Stone interfered, but after he showed up she changed her tune and said they should listen to him more. LA Knight’s coronation is next!

Mercedes Martinez: “At Takeover, I felt the wrath of Tian Sha. But I told you before, I am the wrong person to mess with. I’m not going anywhere. Boa? You want to step to Mercedes? You’re going to feel the steel again. Xia Li? We’re one and one. Any time honey, any time. Mei Ying, next time you won’t have a chance to get out of your chair, because I’m going to knock you right out of it.”

The Million Dollar Title coronation

The belt is on display and DiBiase’s flunkies are waiting for him to walk down to the ring. He says he finally found a successor at Takeover and throws to a LA Knight video package. That’s the cue for Knight to pull up outside in his sports car and red leather jacket, walking through an open door straight to the backstage area, and he’s coming down the entrance ramp toward DiBiase in no time flat. He’s been chomping on a cigar the whole way there to boot. He finally takes it out of his mouth to talk to Ted as Mr. DiBiase points to the belt. “Teddy! Let me talk ... actually, you know what? Give me a second, give me a second. Ted, let me actually talk to you. It’s not often in life that we get to meet our heroes. In this business it’s even more rare that you get to meet them and share the ring with them. Then that hero says you’re the one to carry on my legacy... Ted I don’t even know how to say what I’m feeling right now. I can’t lie to you, my neck’s banged up, my back’s banged up, but to be standing here with you right now with that belt, it was 100% worth it. When I used to watch wrestling with my father, you were constantly on my screen. When I was a kid we used to wrestler in the backyard and one of us was always Ted DiBiase. I had your action figure, it came with that belt. To say you were a fixture of my childhood was an understatement. So I needed you here tonight so I could express my gratitude, express my appreciation, and say thank you.” DiBiase: “You’re very welcome. You earned it.” They shake hands. Knight: “It would be the honor of my life for you to officially crown me the Million Dollar Champion.” DiBIase: “Son I’d be happy to.” DiBiase drapes the belt over Knight’s left shoulder. The pyro goes off. No interruption from Cameron Grimes? Even the NeXTras are chanting for Grimes. Knight: “Ted just to have this on my shoulder right now is beyond description. I’ve learned so much in the last few weeks. Now I’ve got everything that I want. And now that I have everything taht I want, it’s time to drop what I don’t need.” He decks DiBiase with the mic, kicks both of the flunkies away, tosses the podium out of the ring, and starts insulting DiBiase. “This is now mine! I’m the only Million Dollar Man. Not you!” He stomps and kicks DiBiase repeatedly. Knight: “What are you gonna do? I’m the Million Dollar Champ.” Now Cameron Grimes is here! He boots Knight out of the ring and goes to check on DiBiase. Knight stumbles his way up the ramp with the title belt as Grimes yells at him. Grimes: “You crossed the line. You crossed it. And now you’re gonna pay! You hear me?”

Backstage Raquel González is with Dakota Kai. She says to let The Way know to hold on to those belts real title, because one title isn’t enough. Kai: “Tonight we take care of Kacy and Kayden and then it’s on to becoming champions for a second time.” Commercial!

Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart are yelling at González and Kai, with Mr. Regal and Samoa Joe holding them back, before the competitors make their way to the ring.

Raquel González & Dakota Kai vs. Kayden Carter & Kacy Catanzaro

Catanzaro and Kai give her a taste of “team kick” on the ropes after Carter tags Catanzaro in. She quickly tags her partner back but Kai finally bails on the beating and González goes for a big boot. Carter ducks it but González lifts her high in the air and puts her back down. Maybe she should have slammed her down because Carter goes for a submission, a jaw jacker, a drop kick, a splash, and Catanzaro gets gtagged in. Catanzaro chops the leg and gets o n top González, and Carter helps her do a head scissor. Kai tags back in and Catanzaro wipes her out on the floor. Carter tags in and splashes both women on the floor to send us to a commercial break!

González is running things when we come back. Kai tags in to fight with Catanzaro, Catanzaro kicks Kai away and Carter makes the tag, drop kicking González when she tries to get involved. Both women are stacked up in the corner and González gets knocked out of the ring for good measure. Back heel kick to the jaw of Kai followed by a kick through the ropes for a near fall. Kai with a Scorpion Kick to get back on track and González tags in. Carter gets a boot up to block her and goes to the second rope. González catches her in mid-air for a sidewalk slam and a near fall. González pulls her up by the hair, hercs Carter up, Kai tags in and hits the assisted lung blower before Catanzaro breaks up the pin. Kai eats a kick from Carter and vice versa. Kai whips Carter and gets blocked with a boot before Catanzaro tags in. Carter flips Catanzaro on top of Kai for a near fall. González runs in and kicks kicked from behind over the ropes. Carter tags in and they double team González on the apron, who slams her face into the apron. Catanzaro gets a tag, does a 450 and covers Kai but González pulls her off the cover to the floor. Carter is picked up up and González throws her backward into the plexiglass. Catanzaro goes to the top rope, Kai kicks her in the head, and hits the GTK for three.

Your winners: Raquel González and Dakota Kai

Ever-Rise complain about Hit Row destroying their set at the pre pre-show. They say the next time Hit Row comes knocking on their door looking for a taste, they’ll get more than they bargained for. Io Shirai is up next!

In three weeks at The Great American Bash, Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly will have a rematch. Vic Joseph also tells us that Poppy’s soundtrack is available on Spotify and Apple Music. Speaking of Poppy, here comes her friend Io!

Io Shirai makes a statement

Shirai: “I’m back. I feel good! My next target is...” and Candice LeRae’s music interrupts. LeRae: “Io a lot has changed since you’ve been gone. Most importantly I am no longer an uncrowned champion. And since you are no longer the unbeatable champion it’s back to the bottom for you. I guess there is something that hasn’t changed — I still can’t stand you. Unfortunately for you Io you picked the wrong time to screw with me.” Indi Hartwell jumps Shirai from behind and the two on one assault begins. Shirai kicks LeRae away and gives Hartwell the 6-1-9! LeRae snags a leg from outside the ring and Hartwell gives her the big boot. LeRae spears Shirai into the apron and wails on her. Hartwell clears off the announce table and LeRae puts her on it, telling Hartwell to get in the ring for an elbow drop. “Go go go!” Zoey Stark runs down to cut Hartwell off before she can do it. Stark points to Shirai and she hits a double dropkick. The babyfaces shake hands in the ring as the heels back away up the entrance ramp.

Backstage Joe and Regal are being interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell. Regal starts to talk to her but we suddenly cut to Ciampa and Thatcher’s arrival. MSK are eating popcorn as they walk in, Thatcher looks pissed, but then he eats a handful of popcorn and smiles. Commercial break!

McKenzie Mitchell is with Regal and Joe (again) but they get interrupted by Johnny Gargano and Austin Theory chanting “Joe! Joe! Joe!” Gargano says Joe is exactly what this place needs. Joe: “Johnny can you do me a big favor?” Gargano: “Anything! What?” Joe: “GET OUT.” Gargano: “Alright man. Good talk!” Pete Dunne comes in and stares a hole through Samoa Joe. He gives just as good as he gets. Regal: “Gentlemen, please.”

Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher vs. Grizzled Young Veterans (tornado rules)

Zack Gibson tries to cut a promo but Ciampa & Thatcher run up the ramp and cut them off for a beating, then give them a noggin knocker and a simultaneous beatdown, then trade and give each other the other member to continue. The angry old men go for submissions and GYV roll out and finally get their ring jackets off. Back in the ring they toss Thatcher out with a sick thug and start to double team Ciampa. Ciampa responds with chops and a double clothesline. He runs to splash both Gibson and Drake but they trip Ciampa and kick Thatcher off the apron. Thatcher takes a pounding from Drake on the ramp while Gibson throws Ciampa into the glass. This match has all the “bedlam and carnage” that Regal was taking about at the end of Takeover on Sunday in one place at one time. Gibson pummels Thatcher with forearms, stomps on him, and moments later all four men are outside the ring and brawling to the right of the announce table. Ciampa crashes back first into both of GYV and throws them back in the ring one at a time. Ciampa and Thatcher slap each other to get fired up! They hit crisscross forearms to Gibson and Drake as we go to a break.

The action is no less chaotic when we return than it was when we left. Thatcher accidentally gets caught with a knee from Ciampa and GYV seize the opportunity to double team him. Ciampa is hoisted up for a Doomsday Device but Thatcher makes the save and Thatcher comes off the top with the Air Raid Crash for a near fall while Thatcher stopped Gibson from interfering. Ciampa steps through the ropes to trade chops on the apron with Drake. He wins the war and stuns Drake with a boot to the face, picks him up, Drake escapes and Gibson puts Ciampa on his shoulders. Suicide dive by Drake and a hard landing for everyone BUT Gibson. Ciampa is out flat and Drake is selling like he tore something. Thatcher and Gibson trade uppercuts in the ring. Eventually Drake gets back in to make it two on one and softens Thatcher up with a dropkick. Assisted lung blower. Drake makes the cover and Ciampa leaps in last second for the save! GYV go out to beat down Ciampa in front of the announce table. Drake pulls the cover off the table and Ciampa gets dropped through it as it’s draped on the floor. Then they get up on the announce table looking to take Ciampa out. Drake has to get back in the ring to keep Thatcher from interfering, and that gives CIampa a chance to recover and hoist Gibson up to drop him on the table! Drake yells at Ciampa and Thatcher sneaks up behind him, slapping him, and Ciampa gives him the double underhook slam as Thatcher applies the ankle lock for the tapout.

Your winners by submission: Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher

Ciampa: “This was out Takeover!” McKenzie is outside with Regal and Joe. Regal: “I think things are going to be a little different around here.” Joe: “Night one of many.” Regal: “Shall we?” They both depart. Good night Irene!
