The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Hell in a Cell event set to take place on Sun., June 20, 2021, at the ThunderDome inside the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. The show is typically held in October (with one event, in 2018, being held in September) but was moved to the summer to be held in the ThunderDome.
We’re just one week out from showtime. Here’s how the card looks right now:
- Roman Reigns (c) vs. Rey Mysterio (Universal championship)
This will be a Hell in a Cell match. Mysterio challenged Reigns after the tribal chief put the boots to Rey’s son, Dominik, during their SmackDown tag team title match against The Usos.
- Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Drew McIntyre (WWE championship)
It took two different number one contender matches but eventually McIntyre defeated Kofi Kingston to set himself up for another title match. They negotiated the terms of it this past week, where Lashley demanded that a win would mean McIntyre wouldn’t get to challenge him for the title again and McIntyre wanting it to be a Hell in a Cell match. So it’s on.
- Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Charlotte Flair (Raw women’s championship)
Flair used a win over Asuka to set herself up for this match. Since then, the two have been arguing back and forth over nothing, with Nikki Cross squeezing her way into the title picture and waiting in the wings for whoever wins this match.
- Bianca Belair (c) vs. Bayley (SmackDown women’s championship)
In a bit of a break from the norm, the champion issued the challenge here despite winning their last PPV match. Her reasoning? She’s tired of Bayley laughing in her face. Bayley laughed in her face even more. Belair has since done some laughing of her own. Lots of laughter.
Cesaro returned to SmackDown this past week, setting up another match with Seth Rollins, which could end up on this show.
