This week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown largely centered on the continued drama surrounding Roman Reigns and The Usos but a side story in that was Rey Mysterio responding to Reigns abusing his son, Dominik, while they were wrestling Jimmy & Jey for the SmackDown tag team titles last week.
Mysterio, wanting to get right down to it, challenged Reigns to a Hell in a Cell match at the pay-per-view (PPV) of the same name scheduled for Sun., June 20, 2021, at the ThunderDome inside Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. Reigns didn’t exactly accept but it’s clear that’s where we’re headed.
They wouldn’t have done all this if it wasn’t.
It got better, though, because Rey straight up attacked Roman with a kendo stick and when he started getting his ass kicked, his son showed up to help and got himself powerbombed outside the ring to the floor below:
That’s one hell of an angle as a quick build to a Hell in a Cell match.
Here’s the updated card:
- Roman Reigns (c) vs. Rey Mysterio (Hell in a Cell)
- Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Drew McIntyre (WWE championship Hell in a Cell match)
- Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Charlotte Flair (Raw women’s championship)
- Bianca Belair (c) vs. Bayley (SmackDown women’s championship)
