WWE SmackDown results, live blog (June 11, 2021): Mysterio seeks revenge

New, 144 comments

WWE SmackDown comes waltzing back into our lives tonight (June 11, 2021) with a show from the ThunderDome at Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida, featuring all the latest build to the upcoming Hell in a Cell pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for later this month in the very same venue.

No matches are official yet for tonight’s card, but WWE is teasing that Rey Mysterio will seek revenge on Universal champion Roman Reigns for the vicious beating that the Tribal Chief delivered to his son Dominik. How will Jey Uso respond to the ongoing tug of war between Jimmy Uso and Roman Reigns that is constantly testing his loyalty?

Come right back here at 8 p.m. ET when the SmackDown live blog kicks off once the show starts on FOX. It will be below this line here. (REMINDER: NO GIFS OR PICS ARE ALLOWED IN THE COMMENTS SECTION. OFFENDERS WILL BE BANNED.)

On such a breathless night as this, upon my brow the lightest kiss. I walked alone, and all around the air did say my lady soon will stir this way, but me? I’m just here to liveblog this pro wrestling show for you, folks.

The show opens with a recap of the saga of the Usos failing to win the tag titles twice last week.

We see Roman Reigns watching the video package backstage alongside Paul Heyman and Jey Uso.

Roman turns to Uso and addresses him, telling him he saved his ass and he owes him. He asks what the one thing he won’t stand for is and Jey answers “embarrassing the family.” Reigns asks if his brother understands that, and he’s answered by Jimmy Uso making his entrance in the arena.

Jimmy gets on the mic and says last week was supposed to be a celebration and tonight they were supposed to be in here as 7-time tag champions, but no, they got robbed. He’s not making excuses, but spitting facts. The ref blew the call, and then Roman just couldn’t let them take what was theirs, and if you ask him, he thinks Roman got them disqualified on purpose.

What’s the point? He’s thought about it and he knows what the issue is— Reigns is jealous of him, that he’s back and he and his brother want to represent the family just like he does. But he sees right through him, he’s trying to split them, but he’s his brother’s keeper, not Roman. And tonight, he promises he’s gonna do something that he won’t regret.

Back to Roman, he tells Jey he better take care of this.

Big E and Kevin Owens make their entrance to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Jimmy confronts Jey, asking if he thought they could have won the tag titles.

He prods Jey, trying to get him to admit that he was mad when Roman cost them the match, and says it can’t be like this anymore. He needed his brother and he froze on him, you want to talk about family disgrace, Roman is disgracing them right now. Jey asks what he wants him to do after Jimmy was out a whole year, and he doesn’t know how to get out of this.

Jimmy tells him if Roman wants to see him, he’ll be in THEIR locker room.

Apollo Crews & Sami Zayn vs. Big E & Kevin Owens

Owens and Crews to start, little a back and forth for treat, Kev with a big senton but then he gets distracted brawling with Zayn on the floor. Apollo cuts him off on the return, and the heels take the momentum with quick tags. E gets the tag, belly-to-bellies all over the place, off the ropes, knees up on the big splash!

Float out of the Olympic Slam, big Rock Bottom out of the corner... NO! Enzuigiri connects, arm-trap German suplex, Crews in control! E puts him on the apron but he sidesteps the suicide spear and we go to break!

Back from commercial, the heels are working E over with quick tags, well in the heat segment. Big rolls away from a diving splash... TAGS MADE! Owens takes Zayn down and beats him up! Action to the floor, KO with a senton, back inside... CANNONBALL! Up top, senton atomico connects... NOPE! Up in the turnbuckles, jockeying for position, Sami gets the tag!

KO with a superkick to Crews, off the ropes... POP-UP POWERBOMB CAN’T KEEP HIM DOWN! Block the Half & Half, Zayn stays in there and gets it on the second try... STILL NO! BLUE THUNDER DRIVER... BIG E BREAKS IT UP! Cactus clothesline takes the illegal men out, Helluva Kick sidestepped, kick to the midsection...

Big E & Kevin Owens win by pinfall with a Stunner from Owens on Sami Zayn.

Post-match, Crews gets on the mic and asks why the babyfaces are celebrating and challenges both of them to another tag match next week, against himself and Commander Azeez.

This pisses Sami Zayn off, who demands an apology and gets a Nigerian Nail for his trouble!

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial we get another hype reel for WWE’s return to live touring.

A recap of Street Profits being attacked by Otis Dozovic last week follows.

Street Profits are hanging backstage when Chad Gable rolls up to apologize and tell them he got their tag match canceled tonight. Montez Ford takes issue with that and says they’re gonna slap Otis so hard he goes back to the Jurassic period. They bicker, Chad says they talked their way back into a match, one-on-one against him.

Angelo Dawkins tries to take the match but Montez insists he wants Gable. Chad says he’s not gonna have Otis at ringside, but only if Angelo hangs back himself. Gable warns them Otis is still angry before walking off.

Roman Reigns is in his office when Jey Uso rolls up. Roman demands to know where Jimmy is but Jey deflects before relaying the message that Reigns has to go to the Uso’s locker room. Roman mocks the idea of an Uso locker room before telling Jey to tell his brother that he’s coming.

Carmella makes her entrance to send us to break.

Carmella vs. Liv Morgan

Morgan right in with an elbow, smashing Carmella’s head into the turnbuckles, kicks in the corner, stomps, Mella sidesteps and pulls her to the floor, ramming her into apron and barricade before chatting with Michael Cole. Back inside, Liv with a hope spot before running right into a boot to the face! Clubbing desperation, Carmella trying to regain control but Morgan gets her...

Liv Morgan wins by pinfall with Oblivion.

We see Bayley being difficult with a crew member ahead of tonight’s episode of Ding Dong, Hello! to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Bayley is in the ring to introduce tonight’s episode of Ding Dong, Hello!, featuring Seth Rollins as her guest.

Rollins makes his entrance and takes his seat, talking up Bayley and how she’s gonna mop the floor with Bianca Belair at Hell in a Cell. They have a laugh of a clip of Bayley taking the ThunderDome over to taunt Belair before moving on to footage of Seth beating Cesaro up.

They laugh and laugh when the doorbell rings. Seth insists on answering the door... CESARO IS BACK! HE DROPS ROLLINS WITH A PAIR OF TENRYU JABS AND STARTS BEATING HIM DOWN! Cesaro stands tall as Bayley surveys the destruction of her set.

Bianca Belair makes her entrance and gets on the mic.

She laughs and laughs.

We get another recap of Roman Reigns destroying Dominik Mysterio last week.

Rey Mysterio is interviewed backstage.

He talks about how he vowed the day Dominik was born to protect him, and last week he failed. He tells Roman he can do whatever he wants with his family, but now he’s messing with his, and his son is his reason for being. By the end of the night he’s gonna be in the ring and call Reigns out to show him what a family is supposed to look like.

Street Profits make their entrance to send us to break.

Chad Gable vs. Montez Ford

Circling, collar and elbow, stalemate, back to the well again, same result, Gable with a waistlock, taking Ford for a ride, standing switches, Chad with a wristlock, Montez reverses. Roll through, bridge out, drop toehold into a kneeling armbar! Headlock takeover reversed to a headscissors, same exchange in the opposite direction, Ford with an arm drag into a kneeling armbar!

Action to the floor, Ford with a cannonball off the apron to send us to break!

Back from commercial, Gable is in control but unable to keep Ford down! Whip across, duck the lariat, double crossbody and both guys are down and out! We cut backstage to see Otis Dozovic blindsiding Angelo Dawkins and leaving him lying on the concrete!

Back in the ring, trading punches, Montez with the frog splash... NOT ENOUGH! Otis Dozovic hits the ring and beats Ford down, forcing referee Jessika Carr to call it...

Montez Ford wins by disqualification, presumably.

Post-match, Dozer keeps attacking, laying Montez out in the ring with the World’s Strongest Slam! The attack continues even as Dawkins tries to make the save... VADER BOMB!

And so we go to break.

King Baron Corbin vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

Rick Boogs with the distraction, Nakamura going for those Good Vibrations off the top with Kinshasa... NOT ENOUGH! Charging in, Baron counters to Deep Six, only two! Clubbing blows in the corner, Shinsuke floats over a slam but Corbin mat slams him! Counter to a victory roll...

Shinsuke Nakamura wins by pinfall with a victory roll.

Post-match, Corbin attacks Boogs and smashes his face into the announce table, taking his crown back, but Nakamura snatches it off his face and Rick throws Baron over the announce table!

Backstage, we see Roman texting before telling Jey he’s ready to go to the Usos’ locker room. The entourage gets up and walks out and we go to break.

Back from commercial we get some hype for tonight’s episode of Talking Smack.

Baron Corbin rolls up on five-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville to demand the return of his crown. They humor him and offer to make Shinsuke Nakamura put the crown on the line in a match, next week.

Roman Reigns enters the Usos’ locker room and confronts Jimmy Uso.

He asks Jimmy if he understands the Universal Championship, but he says he doesn’t care about that, just what’s in Roman’s heart. He’s been trying this shit since they were kids, and he watched a whole year of Reigns abusing Jey, and he doesn’t want to take his place.

One day Roman will be in the Hall of Fame, but he’s not gonna be inducted as Roman Reigns, he’s gonna be inducted as a spoiled bitch. Roman asks Jey if he sees what Jimmy is doing, and Jimmy likewise asks if he sees what Roman is doing, and Jey says he’s tired of both of them.

He storms off and Jimmy says he’s tired and he doesn’t care, if Reigns wants to throw, let’s do it. Roman asks why he’d want to fight, what has he done, and he asks why Jimmy would do this to his mom, pointing out he’s the older brother and he should be looking out for Jey.

He berates Jimmy for abandoning his brother for the crime of keeping busy during his year out and tells him to make it right.

Rey Mysterio makes his entrance to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Rey Mysterio calls Roman Reigns out from the ring.

Roman makes his entrance and... my cable dies for a moment. It comes back up with Roman still not in the ring because the man takes his time.

Eventually Reigns gets in the ring and Rey back on the mic.

He acknowledges Roman... as the rat bastard he is and as the rat bastard who put his hands on his son, and as the man he’s gonna fight even if he loses. He passes the mic to Reigns, but Roman takes a mic that Paul E had in his pocket instead.

Reigns says he acknowledges Rey as a father— REY GRABS A KENDO STICK AND BEATS HIM DOWN WITH IT! Roman catches it and goes for a powerbomb but Mysterio still has the stick and counters! Reigns throws him out of the ring, Rey back in... SUPERMAN PUNCH!

Calling for it... BUT DOMINIK IS HERE WITH A KENDO STICK OF HIS OWN TO ATTACK ROMAN! Reigns cuts him off, powerbomb lift... ROMAN REIGNS POWERBOMBS DOMINIK TO THE FLOOR! Rey attacks with the kendo stick again and checks on his son but Roman cuts him off and stands over the fallen Mysterios while road agents swarm.

That’s the show, folks.
