Braun Strowman was released by WWE last week during their latest round of roster cuts. It was surprising to see Strowman’s name on the cut list considering he’s been an upper card mainstay and occasional main event star for WWE over the last four years. In fact, he just competed for the WWE championship on the company’s most recent pay-per-view, WrestleMania Backlash.
It sounds like the big fat contract that Braun signed with WWE in 2019 was too rich for their liking in 2021, and that’s why WWE released him from the contract. Since then, the rumor mill has suggested that The Monster Among Men is asking for a very large booking fee on the independent wrestling scene. This was a believable thing to read considering Braun was by far the biggest star released last week by WWE.
Strowman has seen the rumor about his large booking fee, and that compelled him to clarify the situation via Twitter:
Let me just get this FYI out. I have not spoken to anyone about bookings. But if you wanna talk business the email to my agent is in my bio. Thank for any confusion you may be reading online.— Adam Scherr (@BraunStrowman) June 10, 2021
With Braun deciding to straighten out the confusion today, this will presumably be the final word on the matter until he finally does speak to someone about bookings.
