Jimmy Uso helps Cesaro earn a Universal championship match against Roman Reigns

WWE on Twitter

Cesaro was scheduled to take on Seth Rollins tonight (May 7) on a Throwback edition of SmackDown.

Before the match got started, Jimmy Uso returned to WWE, and Teddy Long came out to...not book a tag match. He instead said that if Cesaro defeats Rollins, he will earn a Universal championship match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania Backlash, coming up on May 16.

The fight between Rollins and Cesaro began right after that, with both Usos standing ringside. They were presumably there to make sure that Cesaro did not win.

However, Seth and Jey bumped into each other on the outside of the ring, causing some tension. Rollins pushed Jey to the ground, saying he doesn’t need his help.

Jimmy didn’t take too kindly to Seth’s treatment of his brother, and he delivered a superkick to Seth’s face as a consequence.

That’s all Cesaro needed to capitalize with a Neutralizer for the win. It will be Cesaro vs. Reigns at Backlash.

Roman dressed Jimmy down after the match. That’s when it became clear that Jimmy isn’t playing Roman’s games. He told Roman that he won’t allow Roman to talk to him the way he does to Jey. Jimmy is nobody’s bitch.

Uh oh!

Here’s the updated WrestleMania Backlash card:

  • Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Braun Strowman for the WWE championship
  • Roman Reigns (c) vs. Cesaro for the Universal championship
  • Bayley vs. Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s title
  • Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Asuka for the Raw women’s championship
  • Dirty Dawgs (c) vs. Dominik & Rey Mysterio for the SmackDown Tag Team titles
