Batista is definitely retired from pro wrestling. He swears there is a zero percent chance that he’ll ever lace up the boots and face another opponent inside the squared circle. Retirements are rarely permanent in pro wrestling, but Batista’s thriving career in Hollywood gives me every reason to believe his firm stance on this topic.
That won’t stop the current WWE champion from offering him a shot at the title anyway:
Bobby Lashley has to defend the WWE championship against Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman on May 16 at WrestleMania Backlash. If he retains the title, he’ll need some new challengers during the summer months while awaiting next year’s WrestleMania 38 dream match against SLAPJACK.
I don’t expect that Batista will come out of retirement for a match against the All Mighty champion this summer, but just by putting this teaser out there, Lashley is setting me up to be disappointed when his next challenger in June turns out to be some mid card lifer like Dolph Ziggler.
Who do you think will get the next title shot against Lashley, in the case where he retains the WWE championship at Backlash?
