SmackDown’s numbers rebound somewhat with WrestleMania Backlash fallout

After last Friday’s ThunderDome-era low numbers, the overnights for the May 21 SmackDown look a little better.

The WrestleMania Backlash fallout show did 1.83 million viewers last night. Early reports from last week put the May 14 show around 1.8 million, so if everything trends up in the final numbers the way it usually does... well, they’ll still be low. But not “new low point for the year” low.

Better news is that the 18 - 49 year old rating also perked up. SmackDown was back to a .5 in the demo, earning WWE and FOX a share of first place (tied with ABC’s Shark Tank. Luckily, the ratings juggernaut that is CBS’s Blue Bloods is in reruns for the summer).

They’ll try to keep this momentum going as the head into the last couple months of shows without fans.
