BOOGS was the highlight of SmackDown this week

Still not sure why WWE just won’t late Eric Bugenhagen be Eric Bugenhagen. If they really want to trademark his name, their preferred first name Ric/Rick is a decent compromise. But Bugenhagen is just a fantastic name for a goofball guitarist from a 1980s-style hair metal band.

Whatever, because it doesn’t seem to matter what name they give him. My man even made a character named “Joseph Average” work in an advertising tie-in (no, not that one. This one).

And on the May 21 SmackDown, he showed up with a new twist on his name and stole the show. Rick was helpful enough to spell Boogs out for those of us who’d known him as Bugez. And Pat McAfee was there to scream his name a lot as he played Shinsuke Nakamura - still rocking the crown he pilfered from Baron Corbin last Friday - to the ring.

BOOGS.

Rick proved he’s a student of the ways of WWE, too. He knew just when to jump up on the announce desk for a riff that helped King Shin pick up a win over Corbin.

If you’re into that whole in-ring wrestling thing, the Fatal 4Way main event was bonkers, too. Here’s that, along with the full highlights from this week’s show:

  • Friday Night SmackDown Parade of Champions
  • Six-Woman Tag Team Match
  • Aleister Black offers another dark lesson to the WWE Universe
  • King of Strong Style needs Corbin’s crown (Online exclusive)

  • Seth Rollins unleashes a vicious assault on Cesaro
