MVP calls fans hypocrites after negative reaction to zombies in WWE

One of the most talked about matches from WrestleMania Backlash is the Lumberjack match between Damian Priest and The Miz. The Miz suffered a torn ACL in the match and was then eaten by zombies. That’s because the lumberjacks who surrounded the ring were zombies, as a promotional tie-in with Batista’s new movie Army of the Dead.

The zombie lumberjack match has been widely panned, with many folks saying it actually managed to eclipse Randy Orton vs. The Fiend from WrestleMania 37 as the worst wrestling match of the year.

MVP doesn’t understand why so many people have a problem with the zombie lumberjacks. He specifically pointed out that the Undertaker’s massive fan base and success show that it’s hypocritical to all of a sudden suggest that zombies have no place in pro wrestling:

MVP is correct when he implies that zombies and supernatural phenomenon are totally fair game in pro wrestling. That doesn’t mean it’s the sort of thing that can be pulled off with a high success rate, though.

As my colleague Marcus explained earlier this week, zombies were not the real problem with that lumberjack match. It’s not necessarily hypocritical to both express adoration for the Undertaker gimmick (or The Fiend, Lilly, etc.) while also pointing out that the zombie lumberjack match at WrestleMania Backlash was one of the worst matches in WWE this year.

Now that a few days have passed, have your feelings on the zombie lumberjack match at WrestleMania Backlash changed at all?
