Bronson Reed wins North American championship

NXT did one hell of a job hyping Bronson Reed and his 14-year journey from the bottom to the top in professional wrestling leading up to his North American title match against Johnny Gargano in the main event of this week’s episode of NXT TV. Reed won multiple matches, overcame The Way, and traveled thousands and thousands of miles en route to the North American championship.

His wife was even in the building for it. If you didn’t know better, you’d think it was basically a spoiler.

The match saw Reed do a lot of selling, as he was awfully giving to Gargano throughout the majority of it. Austin Theory was there for all of it and getting involved periodically from outside the cage. It was, for all intents and purposes, a handicap match.

Despite that, Reed set himself up to win by taking out both Theory and Gargano, leaving him open to climbing out of or simply walking out of the cage. Instead, he slammed the door shut, hit the Tsunami, and scored the pinfall to win the North American championship.

Cue the sparklers, and the tears. The journey is complete.
