Which meant their scheduled defense against Dom & his dad Rey couldn’t happen. Or could it? The elder Mysterio wasn’t going to miss a chance to become the first father and son tag champs in WWE history, so he decided to take on the Dirty Dawgs by himself.
In the early going, it looked like maybe he could pull it off, too.

The numbers game got the better of him, of course. Then he fought back into the match, of course. He was in trouble again when Dom limped to the ring holding his ribs, because you don’t have to listen to medical staff in WWE, apparently.

Rey did want to listen to the trainer’s orders, and didn’t want to tag his son in. But when he ended up in their corner, the younger Mysterio tagged himself in. Dominik bought his dad some time, but quickly found himself in peril.
Can @reymysterio & @DomMysterio35 dig deep against #SmackDown #TagTeamChampions @HEELZiggler & @RealRobertRoode to make history?!

He survived long enough to get Rey back in the action, and after a 6-1-9 on Roode, father cleared things out for son to win things with a Frog Splash... his Uncle Eddie’s move.
