WWE SmackDown comes waltzing back into our lives tonight (May 14, 2021) with a show from the ThunderDome at Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. This is the go-home episode leading into the WrestleMania Backlash event scheduled on May 16 at the same venue.
Tonight’s episode features a women’s tag team championship match; Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax will put their titles on the line against Tamina and Natalya in a rematch from WrestleMania 37.
There’s also the matter of Jimmy Uso defiantly standing up to Roman Reigns and refusing to fall in line. Cesaro looks to take advantage of their family drama and put himself in a strong position to win the Universal championship at WrestleMania Backlash.
Come right back here at 8 p.m. ET when the SmackDown live blog kicks off once the show starts on FOX. It will be below this line here. (REMINDER: NO GIFS OR PICS ARE ALLOWED IN THE COMMENTS SECTION. OFFENDERS WILL BE BANNED.)
WWE SMACKDOWN RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR MAY 14
I wake up in the morning and the sun begins to shine, the day did sneak up on the night. I see your face and I see myself and I get a little taste of life. I try to stand it for a while but I’m in a trance. Hey baby tell me can’t you hear me calling, while I liveblog this here pro wrestling show?
The show opens with Jey Uso in the ring and on the mic.
He says Jimmy Uso has driven them to have to take care of some family business tonight and introduces Roman Reigns.
Roman makes his entrance, flanked by Paul Heyman as usual, and we get a lengthy recap of last week’s show.
Reigns says they’ve got a lot of problems, including Jimmy, but he wants to address Cesaro first. He likes him! Like a lot of the boys in the back, he thinks he’s great, and he’d go so far as to say Cesaro’s one of the best wrestlers in the world, but as tribal chief and head of the table, he’s so much more than just a wrestler.
You really think WWE or Fox want Cesaro in his spot? Look at the facts, Cesaro hasn’t had one world title match, whereas Roman has had 39 such matches. As far as Jimmy goes—
Enter Jimmy Uso.
He gets on the mic and says all he can hear is the Tribal Chief running his mouth while his own brother is standing next to him, acting like his bitch. He’s wearing a “Nobody’s Bitch” shirt and says he has one for Jey when he’s ready to come be with him, and he expects Cesaro to beat Roman. Jey demands he respect the family, Jimmy says he’s all about family, and Reigns takes issue with that.
He says that means that Jimmy has to be all about him for everything he’s done for the family, but Jimmy doesn’t go with it, saying Roman is part of the family, but not all of it. Reigns asks if he really thinks he can’t beat Cesaro, and Jimmy says he doesn’t. They bicker, Roman tries to put him in his place, saying he’s the one that carries the burden and the responsibility that he can never handle. Reigns stops and shifts gears, asking if Jimmy really thinks he can do what he does and be the man around here.
Jimmy does, and Roman mockingly suggests that he just go ahead and do it, before getting to his point— beat Cesaro, tonight. Jimmy calls the Swiss Superman out, and he enters, albeit in street clothes.
Cesaro accepts the challenge and tells Roman that he’s gonna beat Jimmy tonight and then on Sunday he’s gonna beat him for the Universal Championship.
Commentary hypes the show up and we go to break.

Michael Cole interviews Bianca Belair in the ring.
She says she’s the bEST and people have been doubting her her whole life but she doesn’t listen to them. She asks where Bayley is and that gets us a replay of last week’s segment.
Bayley appears on the tron to laugh about Bianca and her earrings. Belair asks her to come see her braid and Bayley says she’s far, far away and Bianca is a big ol’ idiot if she thinks she’s gonna get in the same ring with her before Sunday. And so we go to break
