Back in February, Mercedes Martinez tried to take the NXT Women’s title from Io Shirai. She couldn’t do it, but that was a Triple Threat.
Tonight (May 11), she got a one-on-one shot against the wrestler who was able to end Shirai’s almost year-long reign, Raquel González. This promised to be a slobberknocker, and Martinez and González didn’t waste any time throwing down at the Capitol Wrestling Center.

It didn’t take too long for Big Mami Cool to get the upper hand, but the veteran wasn’t going out without a fight. Mercedes refused to stay down however, and rallied back with a rear naked choke and a devastating spear on the apron.

They traded big shots from there, but it was the champion who landed survived a fisherman’s buster and three knees to the face to hit her one-armed powerbomb finisher.
