Drew McIntyre has a good, reality-based pitch for a Jinder Mahal feud

WWE.com

At Sunday’s WrestleMania Backlash show, Drew McIntyre will have a chance to reclaim his WWE title from Bobby Lashley in a Triple Threat that will also involve Braun Strowman.

It’ll mark almost a year-and-a-half of McIntyre in the championship picture on Raw. He recently acknowledged that it might time for him to exit that scene for a while. And if that is the direction WWE goes, the former 3MB-er has a good idea for a personal feud with another guy who’s not currently doing much of anything.

Here’s what Drew said on Sunday Night’s Main Event:

“I’ve been chasing the title for a long time, but I don’t know if it’d be the worst thing in the world for me to step away from that for a minute and get into a serious story, which brings me back to the title.

”I see Jinder Mahal looking healthy right now and I don’t see him in a story. I’m hoping Jinder and I get to do something down the line. Much like Sheamus and I, we have a real history with each other. The more real, the more people can invest because you’re not just making up something.

“Maybe Jinder is a little upset that when he won the World title three years before I did, people weren’t happy about it and they keep ranking it as one of the worst title reigns ever while mine was universally praised. He’s been out a year and a half, maybe he feels disrespected. There’s a lot of possibility from a storyline perspective as to why Jinder Mahal would come after Drew McIntyre. I feel we could do some cool stuff together because we have such a history.”

In addition to giving McIntyre something to do outside the WWE championship chase that wouldn’t necessarily feel like a big demotion, I like this idea because it allows Mahal to do something that isn’t rooted in an “evil foreigner” stereotype.

We’ve heard whispers Jinder could be back in the mix on Raw soon. Do you agree with Drew and me that this could be a good way to make that happen?
