WWE RAW RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR MAY 10
Mankind, the public enemy’s not the man who speaks his mind. The public enemy’s the man that goes and acts blind, searching for an answer that he’ll never find. An action from reaction and you can’t make a retraction once you’ve put your head out. And then you’re blue in the face, as you try to state your case, but me? I’m just here to liveblog this here pro wrestling show, folks.
The show opens with a recap of last week’s main event.
Thence to the intro video.
Asuka & Sexy Muscle Friends (Dana Brooke & Mandy Rose) vs. Charlotte Flair, Nia Jax, & Shayna Baszler
Baszler and Rose to start, mat grappling with the Queen of Spades in charge but Mandy rams her into the corner and tags out to Asuka. Lighting her up with kicks, German suplex reversed to a side headlock, shot off, dropkick takes her off-balance and the match breaks down with her partners dropkicking the tag champs, Reginald doing a backflip off the apron, and all six women standing in the ring and jawing at each other.
Alexa Bliss... materializes... on the stage, swinging on her swingset.
Flair adjusts her trunks, a single cheek having popped out (listen, it took up the whole frame and I’m a simple homosexual woman), and Bliss says she and Lilly are here to keep an eye on... someone.
This bombshell sends us to break.
Back from commercial, Flair is smashing Rose’s face into the mat in the figure four headscissors! Quick tags, the heat segment rolls on, hot tag to Brooke, Shayna recovers and stems the tide but her leg goes out from under her, tag to Asuka...
Asuka & Sexy Muscle Friends win by pinfall with the running knee from Asuka on Dana Brooke.
Post-match, Flair lays Asuka out with a big boot!
New Day are hanging out backstage when Matt Riddle scoots up and thanks them for the registration forms, claiming RKBro will be an official tag team in just a few weeks, unlike those frauds AJ Styles & Omos. Matt continues rambling until he realizes somebody’s standing behind him and it turns out it’s Randy Orton. New Day say they didn’t mean for Orton to get hit by tomatoes last week and Riddle says it was pretty funny.
The Viper takes offense and says he thinks ending careers and killing legends is funny and he’ll see them out there in their atomicos match later.
And so we go to break.
Back from commercial, Montel Vontavious Porter knocks on Braun Strowman’s door.
He lets himself in, where Strowman is speaking to Ryan Ward about something or other. Braun turns to see MVP and tells him to get out. Porter pleads that he’s just here to talk business, and he has a proposal— He didn’t beat Bobby Lashley last week, Drew McIntyre did, and if Lashley had to lose the title, not that he’s going to, but if he HAD to, he’d rather lose it to Braun than Drew, who’s already had his shot and lost.
And if, somehow, Drew McIntyre got so injured tonight he can’t even make it to WrestleMania Backlash: The Backlash to WrestleMania tonight, well, surely you can see how that would benefit all parties involved. Strowman says he doesn’t like him, MVP says he doesn’t take it personally and leaves.
Five-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce is backstage chatting with Damian Priest when Miz and John Morrison roll up.
Pearce says Priest has an idea that everyone will find mutually appealing. The heels complain about having to deal with him, Morrison says he’d have won last week if Miz hadn’t gotten involved, and Damian says he wants the winner tonight to pick the stipulation for his WrestleMania Backlash: The Backlash to WrestleMania match against the Miz.
Morrison accepts, Miz is mad at him but John sells him on this meaning they get to pick the stipulation.
Jinder Mahal is hanging out in Gorilla.
He introduces himself and says nothing smells better than fresh competition, and he’s excited to be back on Raw. But he hasn’t come alone, he’s got Veer and Shanky, better known as the team of Indus Sher.
They make their entrance and we go to break.
Jeff Hardy vs. Jinder Mahal
Mahal is just absolutely in control here, bringing it to Hardy with everything he’s got out the gates. Jeff eventually gets his way back into it, axehandle off the top, kick to the midsection, Twist of Fate blocked and Jinder decks him with a knee strike! Cobra Clutch...
Jinder Mahal wins by pinfall with Khallas.
Charlotte Flair rolls into Sonya Deville’s office and we cut away.
Jaxson Ryker is backstage with a basket of tomatoes and Elias is loving it.
AJ Styles and Omos roll up and scoff, demanding their teammates be more serious, and Omos crushes a tomato in his bare hands.
Matt Riddle makes his entrance to send us to break.
AJ Styles, Elias, Jaxson Ryker, & Omos vs. New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) & RKBro (Matt Riddle & Randy Orton)
Riddle and Elias to start, Matt nearly gets a cross armbar locked in early but the Drifter scrambles for the ropes and tags out to Ryker. Riddle with a headlock takeover, follows it with a Penalty Kick, and Omos tags in. Matt is game and lights him up with body blows but AJ’s Big Buddy shoves him across the ring! Boot for Xavier when he runs in, head vise and the headbutt to Kingston!
Heels in charge, we go to break.
Back from commercial, the heat segment rolls on as the heels work Riddle over! Eventually he gets out and Woods in, Ryker works Xavier in the corner. Elias tags in, big spinebuster, finally Woods gets the tag to Riddle! In hot, big knee, exploder suplex for Ryker, Elias with elbows in the corner, Matt catches him with the fall-forward Tombstone Piledriver but Omos breaks it up!
Tag to Orton, Omos lays Riddle out, the match breaks down, Randy outta nowhere...
New Day & RKBro win by pinfall with the RKO from Randy Orton on Elias.
Post-match, Orton hits RKOs on New Day just to remind everyone that he’s a snake! Riddle asks how they’re ever gonna have friends if he keeps doing this and Randy simply stalks off.
Sonya Deville is backstage with Asuka and Rhea Ripley.
She has a plan for the two of them to resolve their issues— a singles match, tonight. Rhea asks if this is Charlotte Flair’s grand idea to have them rip each other apart and Deville begs off.
Sheamus makes his entrance to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Montel Vontavious Porter and Bobby Lashley are interviewed backstage.
MVP berates the interviewer for being disrespectful, saying Lashley already proved he’s the better man at WrestleMania, and this is a sequel with a foregone conclusion. Bob says he’s gonna win the triple threat just as surely as he beat Braun last week and he’s gonna beat Drew tonight. Montel refuses to comment on ongoing business negotiations like his matter with Strowman.
Sheamus watches a video package and says he’s proved why he’s the baddest fella on the planet by Brogue Kicking Mansoor and Carrillo. Sheamus claims open challenges give any schmuck a shot at the title but he thinks he’s gonna earn it and nobody’s gonna get their grubby hands on his gold.
Humberto Carrillo vs. Sheamus
Bit of light mat grappling, side headlock, shot off, shoulder block, drop down, leapfrog, hip toss blocked and Sheamus cracks him in the kidney! Uppercuts in the ropes, Carrillo sends him to the floor, triangle dropkick, off the ropes for a baseball slide but the Celtic Warrior pulls him out of the ring and throws him over the timekeeper’s barricade as we go to break.
Back from commercial, Sheamus is in control and lays in the Beats of the Bodhran. Back and forth, Carrillo hits a slingshot sunset flip powerbomb to the floor, his knee buckles and referee Darrick Moore has no choice...
Sheamus wins by referee stoppage, Carrillo seemingly having suffered a legit injury.
We get a video package hyping Lucha House Party up.
Cedric Alexander makes his entrance and we go to break.
Back from commercial, here comes another Eva Marie vignette.
Cedric Alexander vs. Shelton Benjamin
Alexander uses his speed, slipping around Benjamin until he gets a dropkick off. Right hand, whip across, block Paydirt and Cedric rolls to the floor. Shelton after him, on the apron, Alexander hits a dragon screw through the ropes! Cedric capitalizing with a heel hook, Benjamin reverses into a Sharpshooter and Alexander gets the ropes!
Blasting Shelton to the floor, following with a suicide dive, Benjamin cuts him off, intense jockeying for position, Cedric with a dropkick to set up the Neuralyzer, jawing at Shelton, demanding commentary tell us that he’s the best, but the extended jawing costs him...
Shelton Benjamin wins by pinfall with the T-Bone Suplex.
Backstage, Angel Garza is in the middle of photoshoot when Drew Gulak rolls up to ask if he has any respect for pro wrestling. He says Garza has embarrassed and humiliated him, Angel asks what his point is and if he’d like for it to happen again, and maybe this time he’ll shove the rose down his throat. He walks off and Gulak fumes.
Asuka makes her entrance to send us to break.
Asuka vs. Rhea Ripley
Collar and elbow, into the ropes, jockeying for position, trading palm strikes and Ripley offers her jaw, which gets Asuka to hit a legsweep and then a boot! Into the corner, throwing her around, Rhea with a knee lift and a biel of her own! Blocking a drop toehold, Ripley puts boots to Asuka, the Empress reverses into an armbar via a takedown, but Rhea gets a boot on the ropes for the break!
Sliding out to the floor, beating Asuka down, Charlotte Flair makes her entrance. Asuka with the Uraken and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Charlotte Flair has joined commentary and freely admits she suggested this match to Sonya Deville. Ripley with a dropkick, smashing Asuka’s face into the turnbuckles, shoulder thrusts in the corner, continuing to work Asuka over at length and grinding her face into the mat. Short-arm lariats, ripcord blocked, Codebreaker denied, and Rhea nails a roundhouse kick!
To the floor, electric chair, Asuka pops up onto the apron and hits a sliding knee! Back inside, northern lights suplex with the bridge for the two count, Riptide reversed into the Codebreaker... NOPE! To the floor, Rhea jaws with Charlotte, Asuka nails her with a hip attack off the announce table! Back inside, missile dropkick, Ripley kicks out and gets her feet back under her...
Rhea Ripley wins by pinfall with Riptide.
We get a video package hyping up the WWE Championship three-way at WrestleMania Backlash: The Backlash to WrestleMania.
Drew McIntyre is interviewed backstage.
He says he had no intention of getting involved last week until Braun put his putrid filthy hands on him, and if Strowman and Lashley work together to take him out, he’s toast. But he’ll worry about that if it happens, and tonight he’s gonna focus on doing what he couldn’t at WrestleMania, and connect with the Claymore, and then on Sunday, he’ll be WWE Champion again.
The Miz and Morrison make their entrance to send us to break.
Damian Priest vs. John Morrison
Morrison with an elbow out the gates, Priest throws him into the corner and unloads on him with right hands and kicks! Standing armbar applied, reversed, John goes for some kind of octopus hold variation that turns into a bodyscissors takeover when he loses his balance. Raining forearms down, wicked knee strike can’t end it so he applies a reverse chinlock to grind Damian down.
Priest ramming him into the corner for the break, short whip, Morrison slips to the apron, lands an elbow, cartwheel evasion into a kick! Springboard blocked, pop-up forearm to the jaw, John gets a hand on the ropes! Morrison bails and convenes with Miz, the A-Lister runs interference to try and keep Priest out of the ring and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Priest lands a corkscrew back elbow for two! Morrison sends him to the floor with a lariat, Miz gets a cheap shot in while referee Eddie Orengo is distracted and John follows it up with leg kicks. Back inside, cover for one, neckbreaker gets another two count. Float-over reverse cravate, Damian breaks free and hammers him with a roundhouse and then the Shinjiro Ohtani spinning wheel kick!
A flurry of front kicks, rolling heart punch, corner back elbow, Broken Arrow connects but cannot do the deal! Jockeying for position in the corner, Spanish Fly denied, a diving spinning wheel kick gets another nearfall for Priest! Goozle, Morrison reverses, victory roll pin for two! Off the ropes, boot to the knee to block, Damian scoops him up, John reverses Hit the Lights into a crucfix pin but Miz is distracting Orengo and it’s not enough!
Priest clobbers him with a lariat, inverted facelock...
Damian Priest wins by pinfall with Hit the Lights, earning the right to choose the stipulation for his match against the Miz at WrestleMania Backlash: The Backlash to WrestleMania.
Post-match, Miz attacks and beats Priest down but Damian shrugs him off and he runs away before he can hit Skull-Crushing Finale.
Priest hits Hit the Lights on a left-behind John Morrison!
We see Drew McIntyre getting ready backstage and then cut to Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman staring at each other to send us to break.
Back from commercial, we get a new Eva Marie vignette, in which she talks about the fame and fortune she’s gotten in her time away from WWE and claims she sees herself as a super role model and not just a supermodel, and it takes 99 bad pictures to get that one perfect one everyone wants, which is... actually kind of a good message.
Damian Priest rolls up on five-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce and demands his WrestleMania Backlash: The Backlash to WrestleMania match against the Miz be made a lumberjack match.
Commentary hypes up the WrestleMania Backlash: The Backlash to WrestleMania card.
Bobby Lashley and Montel Vontavious Porter make their entrance to send us to break.
Back from commercial we get some hype for tonight’s Raw Talk.
Bobby Lashley vs. Drew McIntyre
Lashley wants the Hurt Lock early but can’t get it, takedown into a cover for one, side headlock, block the shoot off! McIntyre tries and fails to pry his hand loose, back suplex lifts him over the ropes but Bob refuses to let go and hangs him throat-first over the top rope! Back inside, shoulder thrust into a swinging neckbreaker!
Grinding his forearm into Drew’s face in the corner, back elbows, McIntyre turns him around into overhand chops, Lashley regains control with right hands! Action to the floor, Drew with a big suplex that puts him in control as we go to break.
Back from commercial, McIntyre is working Lashley over with chops in the corner. Up to the second, Bob trips him off of it for some breathing room! Reverse STO connects, cover for two! Trading strikes, jockeying for position over a suplex and McIntyre gets him vertical for the drop! Lashley grinding him down in the corner, taking him to the floor briefly, hanging him over the ropes and throwing him face-first into the ringpost!
Back inside, McIntyre sidesteps a charge and Bob takes the turnbuckes hard with a Flair Flip! On their knees, trading right hands, out of gas but rising to their feet, whip across, overhead belly-to-belly suplexes ensue as Drew starts building up a head of steam! Leaping neckbreaker into the kip-up, underhooks, Future Shock blocked!
Spinning spinebuster for two, charging in but Lashley cuts him off with a freight train crossbody! Hurt Lock applied but Bob can’t lock his fingers! Knee lifts, fisherman suplex, Drew pops up, Claymore—
Enter Braun Strowman!
He attacks...
Drew McIntyre wins by disqualification, presumably.
Braun hits the running powerslam on Drew before turning to Bob and offering him a hand! Lashley embraces him but Strowman scoops him up and hits a running powerslam of his own! Another one on Drew, Braun heads to the floor, MVP tries to talk sense into him... BUT HE POWERSLAMS LASHLEY THROUGH THE BARRICADE!
Screaming abot being the monster, he returns to the ring and hits a third powerslam on McIntyre before tearing his shirt off.
That’s the show, folks.
