Signs keep popping up that The Man will be coming around again soon.
Earlier this week, WWE President Nick Khan told Colin Cowherd that Becky Lynch would return to the company in the “not too distant future”.
In her lengthy feature on the former Raw Women’s champion, and the history of WWE, published by Elle today (April 9), Molly Langmuir writes, “Lynch told me she knew she’d go back to pro-wrestling, but she wasn’t sure when.“
For the past couple weeks, fan speculation about a Becky comeback has focused on Bayley’s absence from the WrestleMania 37 card. Bayley’s been hosting an in-show talk show on SmackDown in recent months, which is the kind of thing which can be quickly added to an event line-up, and easily be the means to feature a surprise guest.
According to Wrestling Observer, that very plan has been discussed by WWE officials. And we could get evidence of it on the pre-taped “special WrestleMania edition” of SmackDown airing on FOX tonight:
At one point, a plan was discussed for WWE WrestleMania 37 that would feature the return of Becky Lynch — a plan that might begin to take form on Friday’s SmackDown.
In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the plan was for Bayley to do a “Ding Dong, Hello!” interview segment at some point during the weekend that would see Lynch make her return by “driving a big truck in.”
The reason this (minus the “big truck”) has been fantasy booked by so many fans is because it makes a ton of sense. Lynch gave birth in December, so the timeline is right for the new mom to make her first appearance since last May. And Bayley not being booked for ‘Mania is too bizarre to be a simple oversight.
Join us in our SmackDown live blog tonight and we’ll see if we get signs that WWE is sticking to this plan before WrestleMania 37 this weekend.
