WWE President talks the return of Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey

WWE’s YouTube channel

It’s been noted that WWE is missing some big names from this year’s WrestleMania line-up, including all three wrestlers who main-evented the 2019 show.

We got an update on two of them from WWE President Nick Khan during his appearance on the latest edition of The Colin Cowherd Podcast.

Khan was answering the host’s question about whether or not Vince McMahon and his braintrust were surprised by the increased popularity of women’s wrestling. The former talent agent said his boss is thrilled about it, and gave an outlook on the future for WWE’s women:

“Ronda [Rousey] is gonna be coming back at a certain point in time. Becky Lynch just had her first baby, she’s gonna be coming back at a certain point in time in the not too distant future. So we’re as bullish on that group of folks as on anything else at this company.”

We’ve heard a similar update on Rousey from other company executives, and seen pictures of Ronda training in wrestling rings with pro wrestlers. Despite that, we haven’t really seen any signs a Rowdy return is imminent.

The Man, on the other hand - I think most fans would be surprised if Bex isn’t back with WWE at some point this year. Some are even hoping to see her this weekend.

Star power is great, and either woman would be good for WWE’s buzz (both of them returning for the well-booked singles program we never got could be even better). It doesn’t necessarily mean we should “bullish” on the entire women’s roster, though. If this year’s ‘Mania build is any indication, they’ll only tell as many stories as they have titles.

Would Rousey or Lynch change that? “At a certain point in time” we’ll find out.
