WWE hires new backstage correspondent for SmackDown

There will be a new face on SmackDown starting tonight (April 23) - and she already has her WWE name!

The official announcement on the website tell us about Megan O’Brien’s background, without ever mentioning her real surname. is just so excited to introduce us to Megan Morant!

Megan Morant is set to join WWE as a backstage correspondent beginning this week on Friday Night SmackDown.

Born in Chicago, Illinois and a graduate of Northwestern University, Morant comes to WWE from the New England Patriots, where she worked in a variety of broadcasting roles including as host of their sports talk show on In addition, she covered the team during Super Bowl’s LVI and LVII and appeared weekly on CBS Sports Network’s pregame shows.

Prior to her time with the Patriots, Morant worked as digital correspondent for the BIG EAST Conference and was a broadcaster for the Cape Cod Baseball League.

Morant is the latest in a wave of “real” sports hires for WWE, following new Raw play-by-play announcer Adnan Virk, SmackDown color commentator Pat McAfee, and Raw and Raw Talk host & interviewer Kevin Egan (whose WWE surname is Patrick).
