Cageside Community Star Ratings for WrestleMania 37

Gary Cassidy’s Twitter

After every WWE PPV, we ask you all to rank each match on the show using the star rating system made famous by Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer.

The results are in from WrestleMania 37, the two night extravaganza that put WWE’s brand of sports entertainment in front of it’s biggest live crowd in over a year.. Here’s a look at how our little corner of the wrestle web graded what happened in Raymond James Stadium on April 10 & 11 - and how our subjective grades compare to Meltzer’s.

Our star ratings aligned with our two “Match of the Night” polls (Night One here; Night Two here), taken right after the shows ended. The main events won those, and scored the highest here. The second through fourth place finishers in the MotN races filled in behind them in individual match scores.

Comparing our ratings to The Observer’s, we were generally more generous than Meltzer. He enjoyed the second half of Night Two more than we did; maybe because he loathed the opener whereas we merely hated it.

We usually like things more than Dave, but not usually to the degree it showed up in matches like the Raw Tag title affair, Braun & Shane’s steel cage fight, and the Alexa Bliss incident. I chalk it up to ‘Mania being even more of a variety show than even WWE usually is. And since our scores come from a wider variety of people while his are the opinion of one man...

That difference was confirmed by the overall average score of WrestleMania’s 14 matches. Last weekend’s shows gave us the biggest gap between Meltzer and the Cageside Community we’ve seen this year.

Do Cageside’s Community Ratings match up with your personal ones? Any final thoughts on WrestleMania 37?
