Rock legend Nita Strauss doesn’t perform live music at WWE’s events just for the hell of it. It turns out that she is a really big fan of pro wrestling.
Strauss performed Shinsuke Nakamura’s incredible entrance at WrestleMania 34 in 2018, and she recently performed the United States national anthem at night one of TakeOver: Stand & Deliver. Next up on her WWE wish list is a chance to play Becky Lynch to the ring.
Nita was interviewed this week on the UnSKripted podcast, where she talked about how her pro wrestling fandom developed over the last five years. The first time she ever watched pro wrestling was in 2016 for WrestleMania 32, at the behest of her boyfriend. She admitted that she didn’t get it (understandable, since that show was a disappointment), but eventually grew to love pro wrestling.
Strauss reveals that she is a bigger fan of NXT than main roster WWE, but her favorites do include Becky Lynch and Edge. She was bummed out that so many heels went over on night two of WrestleMania 37, including Roman Reigns beating her favorite.
Would Strauss step foot in a WWE ring for a match if the opportunity ever presented itself? Hell yeah! She sounds very enthusiastic about the idea of showing off her fancy moves:
“But I’m pretty athletic already. So, I imagine being a pretty athletic wrestler. If I was to ever get in the ring, hopefully someday and get to do a couple of spots, I’d like to have an interesting match. I don’t know if I can ever be as accomplished as the real lucha libre guys, but get some high-flying spots in. Get some interesting move sets in. That’s what I want to do.”
Strauss says she absolutely wants to perform Becky’s entrance for her eventual return to WWE, but she’ll settle for a tag match alongside The Man too:
“Exactly, Becky. Come on. I’m ready. Let’s go. I just got done working out at the gym. Let’s do it.”
Do you think Nita Strauss might one day follow in the footsteps of Bad Bunny and have a chance to steal the show in a WWE ring?
