AEW Dynamite easily breaks one million viewers with no competition from NXT

The ratings and viewership data are in for this week’s (Apr. 14) episode of AEW Dynamite.

Per Showbuzz Daily, Dynamite netted 1,219,000 viewers for a 0.44 rating point in the 18-49 demographic.

This is a huge surge of about 531,000 viewers from the prior week, and a spike up from last week’s 0.28 demo rating. AEW moved up from 5th to 2nd place in the demo rating for the night.

You don’t have to parse through the data for individual demographics to understand what this means. NXT went screaming and yelling off Wednesday nights starting this week, clearing the way for AEW Dynamite to run unopposed by any other wrestling show.

The result is that Dynamite easily surpassed one million viewers. The overall figure of 1,219,000 viewers is the highest mark since Dynamite’s debut episode in October 2019. The 0.44 demo rating also ranks among Dynamite’s best ever since their debut month.

This surge in viewership is exactly what AEW was hoping would happen given the newfound absence of WWE counter-programming. Will Vince McMahon reconsider how worried he should be of AEW in light of Dynamite’s extremely impressive results?

Here’s a breakdown of AEW viewership and rating in the 18-49 demo over the last year:
