After a long career featuring many battles spanning multiple promotions, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn finally got the chance to go at it in a singles match at the biggest WWE show of the year, WrestleMania 37 tonight (Sun., April 11, 2021) at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
Just, you know, add in a side of Logan Paul.
The match was pretty damn good for what it is, though they weren’t given a ton of time. They went back-and-forth dropping each other on their respective necks, in a sequence that made me fear for everyone’s health. Ultimately, Owens hit two superkicks and then stood Zayn up to hit the Stunner.
That was enough to get the clean pinfall victory, all while Paul sat ringside watching.
After, Paul got in the ring and congratulated Owens, saying “That was awesome.” This enraged Zayn, who got in Paul’s face and was pushed down for it. The fans actually booed him for that. He raised Owens’ hand and fans booed again.
KO didn’t take to it. He let the moment breathe, the fans chanted “YES” knowing what was coming, and he delivered the goods with a Stunner.
