WrestleMania 37 predictions

WWE.com

WrestleMania 37 is taking place this weekend with two separate nights of action, on Sat. Apr. 10 and Sun. Apr. 11, 2021. The show will air live from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida with fans in attendance for the first time in over a year. It beings at 7:00 pm ET with the Kickoff show leading right on into the main course at 8 pm ET on Peacock in the U.S., WWE Network everywhere else, or your local cable pay-per-view provider.

Luckily for you Cagesiders, our staff of learned wrestling blowhards is here to help figure out just how the event is going to play out with predictions for each match on the card.

Let’s get to it.

WrestleMania 37 predictions

Night one

Bobby Lashley vs. Drew McIntyre

Geno Mrosko: Go ahead and give the big fella the moment he didn’t get last year. Pick: Drew McIntyre

Sean Rueter: The show ends with a babyface winning, so it doesn’t need to open with one. Drew’s reward is being the first guy who gets to enter in front of fans. That allows WWE to stop the bleeding on Lashley’s horrible booking over the last several weeks. Pick: Bobby Lashley

Kyle Decker: What I’m about to say was already written by Claire & Cain prior to me putting in my prediction, but you’ll read this first and think they stole it from me (they have no integrity). Lashley won the title so Drew could win the title this year in front of fans. Pick: Drew McIntyre

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: Bobby Lashley should win, and the Hurt Business should run Raw for the next year, but he won’t, because the only reason he’s even champion is to give Drew his big title win in front of a crowd. Pick: Drew McIntyre

Cain A. Knight: Lashley only won the WWE championship last month so that McIntyre can become the new champ at WrestleMania, this time with actual fans cheering for him. Pick: Drew McIntyre

Stella Cheeks: We’re a hive mind. Drew McIntyre gets a redo of his WrestleMania moment in front of a crowd. Pick: Drew McIntyre

Sasha Banks vs. Bianca Belair

Geno Mrosko: Once they said this is closing night one, the result was clear. Pick: Bianca Belair

Sean Rueter: Not only will this send folks home happy, working to make another new star in this spot is the kind of Boss shiz Sasha does this for. Pick: Bianca Belair

Kyle Decker: I can see this going both ways pretty easily. Let’s say the do the change here and actually go through with making Belair a star. Pick Bianca Belair

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: This is gonna be killer and it should absolutely end with the EST holding the title high. Pick: Bianca Belair

Cain A. Knight: The main event has to end with the babyface winning the title. Pick: Bianca Belair

Stella Cheeks: Bianca deserves to win based solely on the fact that she had to deal with Reginald ruining her post Royal Rumble road to WrestleMania. Pick: Bianca Belair

The New Day vs. AJ Styles & Omos

Geno Mrosko: This is the first ever match for the big fella Omos, so I imagine he’s going over. Pick: AJ Styles & Omos

Sean Rueter: For a lot of reasons, but mostly because using WrestleMania’s lone tag title match to put over two singles wrestlers is exactly what WWE would do. Pick: AJ Styles & Omos

Kyle Decker: WWE will always take the opportunity to crown a Grand Slam winner when they can. And these tag belts are all that’s standing between AJ and that accolade. Pick: AJ Styles & Omos

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: AJ and his Big Buddy aren’t a real tag team by any stretch of the imagination, and I have to think this match only exists to create a rift between them that leads Styles to give Omos a signature match in his very first singles encounter later on. Pick: New Day

Cain A. Knight: Whether his partner is AJ Styles or just Some Kid, Omos is not losing his debut match. Pick: AJ Styles & Omos

Stella Cheeks: Omos and AJ are like the odd couple, but not in a fun way. This match will mark the end of this duo when AJ’s shenanigans cost them the tag belts. Pick: The New Day

Bad Bunny & Damian Priest vs. The Miz & John Morrison

Geno Mrosko: You don’t bring in the celebrity and put him against the most hated man just to beat him. Pick: Bad Bunny & Damian Priest

Sean Rueter: Here comes the Bunny! You don’t need me to tell you what’s happening here, so hope you enjoyed that horrible “joke”. Pick: Bad Bunny & Damian Priest

Kyle Decker: At least it’s a tag match so the celebrity guest isn’t beating the two-time WWE champion straight up. Pick: Bad Bunny & Damian Priest

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: I am way more excited about this than I would have thought if you told me about it this time last year. Honestly I was even looking forward to seeing this as a singles! Don’t care for Bunny’s music, but he’s enthusiastic and athletic enough that he won’t look out of place winning. Pick: Bad Bunny & Damian Priest

Cain A. Knight: Another reason why Miz never should have won the WWE championship is because now a celebrity is going to beat the former WWE champion at WrestleMania. Pick: Bad Bunny & Damian Priest

Stella Cheeks: Bad Bunny has been one of the highlights of RAW these past few months. He deserves this win for making a recently unbearable show watchable. Pick: Bad Bunny & Damian Priest

Braun Strowman vs. Shane McMahon

Geno Mrosko: Sigh. Pick: Braun Strowman

Sean Rueter: Here comes the money! Just in case you didn’t get my bad joke from the last one. I don’t think Shane is winning here though, because bullies don’t win on The Grandest Stage of Them All (not since the precedent setting Jax v Bliss case of 2018, anyway). Pick: Braun Strowman

Kyle Decker: Part of me wonders if they’ll do all that and Shane will win, but Shane doesn’t have a great Mania record. Pick: Braun Strowman

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: Do we really have to? I’d love to pick “the earth swallows them both,” but alas... Pick: Braun Strowman

Cain A. Knight: This ranks among the dumbest shit I’ve ever seen in wrestling. Pick: Braun Strowman

Stella Cheeks: Now I don’t have my report card handy to prove this, but I’m a pretty smart lady, and smart ladies don’t side with Shane McMahon. Pick: Braun Strowman

Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins

Geno Mrosko: It seems clear they want to push the Swiss Superman. Pick: Cesaro

Sean Rueter: That this match is happening at all is the closest Cesaro’s gonna get to that brass ring. Pick: Seth Rollins

Kyle Decker: I think this is meant to elevate Cesaro, maybe for a B-PPV match against Roman down the line. Seth won’t be hurt by this loss. Pick: Cesaro

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: This feud is simple, the match will be great, but Seth is still being reestablished and Cesaro is “a good hand,” so there’s only one way this ends. Pick: Seth Rollins

Cain A. Knight: If you told me three months ago that not only would Cesaro get a singles match against Rollins at WrestleMania, but that I’d also pick Cesaro to win the match, I would have said there’s no chance in hell. Pick: Cesaro

Stella Cheeks: Seth Rollins is a heel with atrocious fashion sense. Cesaro is the man who excels in the ring, is beloved by fans, but has never *quite* made it to the top. This time it has to be Cesaro, right? I mean, Seth can’t afford a wardrobe consultant, but he can afford a loss. Pick: Cesaro

Naomi & Lana vs. Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke vs. The Riott Squad vs. Natalya & Tamina vs. Carmella & Billie Kay

Geno Mrosko: I would have thought Lana and Naomi here but recent television changed my mind. Pick: Natalya & Tamina

Sean Rueter: Please, if only so all of those minutes on Monday nights weren’t for nothing. Pick: Lana & Naomi

Kyle Decker: This wouldn’t be the first time that WWE tosses someone in a title match last minute and then they win. (See: Zack Ryder at WrestleMania 32.) Pick: The Riott Squad

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: Lana’s story needs a payoff, give her the tag titles! Pick: Lana & Naomi

Cain A. Knight: Only one of these teams has actually received a push heading into WrestleMania. Pick: Tamina & Natalya

Stella Cheeks: Honestly, this one is anyone’s game. Since the winner goes on to face Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler, my pick is Lana & Naomi. Lana has beef with Nia, so at least there would be some semblance of a storyline there. And selfishly, I want Naomi to win because Naomi is the best. Pick: Lana & Naomi

Night two

Roman Reigns vs. Edge vs. Daniel Bryan

Geno Mrosko: I can’t imagine not paying off the Royal Rumble winner here. Pick: Edge

Sean Rueter: Unless he’s carrying a wooden belt and wrestling a member of New Day, I am constitutionally incapable of picking against DB at ‘Mania. Pick: Daniel Bryan

Kyle Decker: The addition of Bryan makes it rather easy for them to keep the title on Reigns to continue to rule SmackDown while Edge and DB feud with each other afterwards. Pick: Roman Reigns

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: I feel like Roman dropping the title now to one of these established stars is a bad idea, but I also think Edge is winning the title to close his circle, and he’s doing it by pinning Bryan so the Big Dog can keep his pride. Pick: Edge

Cain A. Knight: Bryan is here so that Reigns can lose the title without taking the fall. Pick: Edge

Stella Cheeks: Winning the Universal Title at WrestleMania seems like the cherry on top for Edge’s return saga. Roman is clearly still going to be a top guy - he is the head of the table after all - but if Edge wins by pinning Bryan, Roman won’t have to worry about his street cred. Pick: Edge

Asuka vs. Rhea Ripley

Geno Mrosko: This was supposed to be Charlotte Flair, so I guess just stick with what was probably the original plan and do the title change. Pick: Rhea Ripley

Sean Rueter: At least when we close the book on Asuka’s wasted second run with the red belt, we’ll be able to say she helped the next generation. Pick: Rhea Ripley

Kyle Decker: It would hurt Rhea Ripley to lose two title matches at WrestleMania two years in a row. I think it happens anyway. Pick: Asuka

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: Well, even if Charlotte somehow wedges herself into this match, belting Rhea is the right call. Start off strong! Pick: Rhea Ripley

Cain A. Knight: Considering that Asuka was supposed to lose this title to Lacey Evans in February, this should be easy pickings for Ripley. Pick: Rhea Ripley

Stella Cheeks: Rhea Ripley can’t afford to lose her first big shot after debuting on RAW. It was bad enough that she lost last year to Charlotte Flair. She needs this win if she’s to thrive on the main roster. Pick: Rhea Ripley

Big E vs. Apollo Crews

Geno Mrosko: I don’t know what a Nigerian Drum Fight is but I think it favors one guy over the other. Pick: Apollo Crews

Sean Rueter: Just copying and pasting my Fastlane prediction here... The man said he ain’t losing, and when Large Epsilon speaks, I listen. Pick: Big E

Kyle Decker: I like all they’ve done with Apollo, but I still think the title stays on Big E until he’s ready for a world title fight. Pick: Big E

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: Oh boy, I want this to be great but then they went and made it a “Nigerian Drum Fight” and I dunno. E should retain, though. Pick: Big E

Cain A. Knight: If Crews can’t even win with his own hand-picked gimmick match, then his push is doomed. Pick: Apollo Crews

Stella Cheeks: I was here for an Apollo vs. Big E feud until they turned Apollo into a Nigerian Prince or whatever. It would be fine to draw strength from your ancestors or tap into your heritage for motivation, but the whole brand new accent and made up gimmick match really ruined this whole thing. It feels like something out of the 1980s and not in a good way. Pick: Big E

Riddle vs. Sheamus

Geno Mrosko: I think Vince McMahon is really tickled pink by this guy. Pick: Riddle

Sean Rueter: The booking of The Bro is a mystery - in so many ways - so nothing would surprise me. But I don’t think they paid for those bird graphics to have him lose his WrestleMania debut. Pick: Riddle

Kyle Decker: Riddle about to be rewarded for some ridiculous backstage pre-tapes. Pick: Riddle

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: I hate that I hate Matt Riddle after championing him so strongly back in Evolve’s prime, but here we are. Pick: Sheamus

Cain A. Knight: Riddle was never supposed to win this title in the first place, so now it’s time to correct that mistake. Pick: Sheamus

Stella Cheeks: Matt Riddle is an embarrassment. Pick: Sheamus

Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler vs. TBA

Geno Mrosko: It’s time to make a change here, and by “make a change” I mean break Shayna Baszler away from Nia Jax already. Pick: Whoever TBA ends up being

Sean Rueter: I love recycling predictions... Please, if only so all of those minutes on Monday nights weren’t for nothing. Pick: Lana & Naomi

Kyle Decker: Continuing my theme from earlier. Pick: Riott Squad

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: We’re finally telling the story of the split, and that means whoever wins night one is winning here. Pick: Winner of night one

Cain A. Knight: It’s not a singles match, so that means Baszler can be carried to victory by her much better partner. Pick: Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler

Stella Cheeks: Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler are headed for splitsville and it’s all Reginald’s fault. Pick: Winner of night one

The Fiend vs. Randy Orton

Geno Mrosko: It’s wild to think that Randy Orton is the bad guy in all this. Pick: The Fiend

Sean Rueter: Still can’t believe this isn’t a Firefly Fun House match. Pick: The Fiend

Kyle Decker: An Orton win here would kill Wyatt for good. Pick: The Fiend

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: Mind games, shenanigans, and a burnt man getting revenge on the guy that turned him extra crispy. Pick: The Fiend

Cain A. Knight: The Fiend will find a way to possess Orton’s giant sperm and use it against him. Pick: The Fiend

Stella Cheeks: I hate that The Fiend is back because Alexa and Orton were telling this story much better without him. But he’s back, crispy and full of vengeance which means... Pick: The Fiend.

Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn

Geno Mrosko: This is a show to put the babyfaces over. I’m just not entirely sure who the babyface is here. Pick: Kevin Owens

Sean Rueter: As long as Logan Paul is thrown off a pretend clipper ship, does it even matter? Just kidding, of course it matters. And the conspiracy is real! Pick: Kevin Owens

Kyle Decker: Sami Zayn is the focus here. Kevin was just a last minute addition. Logan Paul plays his true heel form. Pick: Sami Zayn

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: Can they just, like, punch each other for an hour? It’d be an easy liveblog, all I’m saying. Anyway, get that vindication, Sam! Pick: Sami Zayn

Cain A. Knight: Owens hasn’t won on a PPV main card since last year’s WrestleMania. Zayn has lost 15 of his last 16 matches. I’m pretty sure that means Logan Paul might actually enter the match and win. Pick: Kevin Owens

Stella Cheeks: If KO wins this feud is over. If Sami wins we get more KO vs Sami. Fight forever? Yeah, fight forever. Pick: Sami Zayn

That’s how we see the card playing out.
