Like a lot of fans, NXT General Manager William was not happy that Raw and SmackDown authority figure guy Adam Pearce brought his own referee to the WWE Women’s Tag title match at the Capitol Wrestling Center tonight (Mar. 3). Especially since that ref awarded a submission victory to Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler, despite the fact Baszler had the Kirifuda Clutch applied to Dakota Kai, who was not the legal wrestler.
Sure, it wouldn’t have been an issue if Raquel González hadn’t inadvertently booted the NXT official. But still... we know a screwjob when we see one.
Regal was seen arguing with Pearce later in the show, but he must not have gotten anywhere. Because after that meeting, he told McKenzie Mitchell:
"Because of what happened in the #WomensTagTitles Match tonight, I'm going to make an announcement next week that will change the landscape of #WWENXT." - @RealKingRegal pic.twitter.com/VL04HNhBug

My guess is NXT will get their own Women’s Tag belts. They certainly have the roster depth to support them.
It’s also interesting that Regal did his interview in front of an Evolution poster. Maybe he’s going to announce a rematch for an all-women’s episode of NXT? Or a spinoff women’s wrestling show?
All of the above?
Whatever Mr. Regal is going to drop on us, it’ll be part of a loaded show on Mar. 10:
- Finn Bálor (c) vs. Adam Cole for the NXT championship
- Toni Storm vs. Io Shirai (c) for the Women’s title
- Xia Li vs. Kayden Carter
