This week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown featured WWE playing the same game of catch-up the promotion played on Monday Night Raw this week. We’re just a couple weeks out from WrestleMania 37, scheduled for Sat., April 10 and Sun., April 11, 2021, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, and the card needs filling out.
Here’s what was made official:
- Big E vs. Apollo Crews for the Intercontinental championship, which was just sort of thrown out as an announcement just before a six-man tag team match. The match will take place on night two.
- Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins, which came about after an enraged Rollins laid down a challenge when Cesaro tried to swing him again. Cesaro accepted, of course — after swinging Rollins again.
- Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn, which came about after Zayn attacked his former friend for questioning his rambling conspiracy theories about how WWE and the rest of the world is against him.
Here’s the updated match card for both nights of WrestleMania:
Night one
Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Drew McIntyre (WWE championship)
Sasha Banks (c) vs. Bianca Belair (SmackDown women’s championship)
The New Day (c) vs. AJ Styles & Omos (Raw tag team championship)
Shane McMahon vs. Braun Strowman
Bad Bunny vs. The Miz
Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins
Night two
Roman Reigns (c) vs. Edge vs. Daniel Bryan (Universal championship)
Asuka (c) vs. Rhea Ripley (Raw women’s championship)
Big E (c) vs. Apollo Crews (Intercontinental championship)
The Fiend vs. Randy Orton
Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens
