The Bella Twins will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on Apr. 6 as part of the class of 2020.
Nikki and Brie have not competed in a WWE ring in over two years, with their last match taking place around October / November 2018. Nikki Bella main evented the all-women Evolution pay-per-view at that time in a Raw women’s championship match against Ronda Rousey.
Both twins gave birth last August, and obviously an in-ring return was out of the question during their pregnancies. But enough time has now passed where rumors have popped up about the Bella Twins being in preliminary talks to return to action in WWE. The Bellas have also indicated that they’d love to come back for a run with the Women’s tag titles, which did not exist at the end of their last run with WWE.
While discussing their upcoming Hall of Fame induction, Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer dropped in this tidbit about a potential timeline for their return to the ring:
“They’re coming back too. Yeah they’re coming back to wrestle pretty soon. I don’t know exactly when, but they’re planning on coming back, I think it was in the fall.”
Meltzer’s timetable doesn’t mesh with the Bellas estimate from last November that they want to wait “a couple years” so that their boys can see them compete. There’s also the issue of Nikki’s health. Earlier this month on her podcast, Nikki mentioned that she is not medically cleared to wrestle due to the condition of her neck, and that it will take more than a year of strengthening her neck in order to prepare for such a return.
With that context in mind, it seems to me that a Bella Twins return in fall 2022 is more realistic compared to fall 2021. But there’s nothing concrete at this point, so we’ll just have to keep our eyes and ears open for more information as it surfaces. Perhaps they’ll even talk about a comeback during their upcoming speech at the Hall of Fame ceremony.
Do you think there’s any chance that we’ll see the Bella Twins wrestling for WWE later this year?
