It was apparent during last week’s NXT main event that Danny Burch suffered some kind of upper body injury while he & Oney Lorcan took a suplex from Karrion Kross.
Follow-up reports in the media, and WWE’s own work/shoot hybrid NXT Injury Report, said it was a shoulder separation. From there, fans were pretty much just waiting to hear how bad it was, and how Triple H & team would handle it in story.
We got our answers today (Mar. 23)...
I can confirm this incredibly unfortunate news and make the difficult decision to vacate the #WWENXT Tag Team Titles. Furthermore, I will address the state of the titles further tomorrow night on @WWENXT. https://t.co/z3iQdC1Ruc

The men’s tag scene on the black-and-gold brand seems to be jinxed at the moment. MSK earned a title shot with their Dusty Cup win at last month’s TakeOver: Vengeance Day show, but Wes Lee broke his hand in the process. The team who was kayfabe responsible for the injury, Dusty Classic runners up Grizzled Young Veterans, were then written out when Lee & his partner Nash Carter injured Zack Gibson’s hand in a counter-attack. It’s not clear if that’s a legit injury; Gibson & his teammate James Drake only appeared on the Mar. 17 NXT in a pre-taped promo amidst reports of a COVID outbreak at the WWE Performance Center.
We’ll have to see what General Manager WIlliam Regal has planned tomorrow night - and who’s healthy enough to be involved in those plans. With a two night TakeOver: Stand & Deliver card to fill up in just a few weeks, he’ll have to have something.
Here’s wishing Burch a complete and speedy recovery no matter what’s in store on the show.
