The match
Alexa Bliss vs. Randy Orton at tonight’s (Sun., Mar. 21, 2021) WWE Fastlane pay-per-view (PPV) at the ThunderDome inside Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
The story
Supernatural, man.
It’s actually hard to believe WWE has stayed with it for this long but The Fiend was burned to death all the way back on Dec. 20, 2020, and hasn’t been seen on television since then. Bliss responded to this by attempting to get Orton to burn her to death as well, then she burned him, and when even that didn’t work she just decided to mess with him repeatedly over a number of months, which cost him multiple matches, including for the WWE championship.
Beyond that, they’ve done some breathlessly ridiculous things like this:
And then this:
It’s been hilariously bad as far as basic logic and reasoning are concerned, let alone the fact that it isn’t rooted in anything resembling reality. Still, WWE has pushed ahead to the point that Bliss has now challenged Orton to a match at this show, and he accepted.
The belief, of course, is that this is simply setting the stage for Bray Wyatt to make his return. From death.
(Insert sigh here.)
Enjoy the match!
