Less than a week ago, there were multiple reports that Andrade requested his release from WWE. That request was apparently denied.
Andrade broke his silence on the matter with a tweet this morning. He confirmed that the rumors are true.
“The rumors are true and I don’t know what the future holds but I want to make my dreams come true. thank you for giving me so much support these last days Los rumores son ciertos y no se lo que me prepara el futuro, pero quiero hacer realidad mis sueños. Gracias por tanto apoyo”
Andrade doesn’t go into specific detail about the rumors, but it’s pretty clear what he’s talking about.
His time on the main roster has been a huge wasted opportunity for WWE. He’s rarely ever featured on pay-per-view outside of group matches like the Royal Rumble, and his association with Zelina Vega never came close to matching the success it had in NXT. How many times have we heard this story by now? There’s a clear disconnect between the way wrestlers are managed on the main roster compared to NXT.
Many fans held out hope that Andrade would eventually receive a bigger spotlight on Raw due to his relationship with Charlotte Flair. But it never came to fruition. The low point came last October when, somewhat predictably, he was completely snubbed in the WWE draft. He’s been off television since then, and his career frustrations have reached the point where now he is confirming rumors about requesting his release from WWE.
There’s no doubt that Andrade would be a highly sought after free agent who can make big money in multiple wrestling promotions across the world. But it looks like he remains stuck in the WWE fold for now, despite requesting his release from the promotion.
