NXT books a Tag title match while announcing TakeOver’s main event

WWE NXT’s Twitter

Shortly before NXT went on the air on Weds., Mar. 17, WWE announced the main event for TakeOver: Stand & Deliver. The current NXT champion Finn Bálor vs. the man who never lost the belt - and has never lost in WWE, period - Karrion Kross.

By calling this the main event, it will presumably occur on the second night of Stand & Deliver... meaning it will be exclusively on WWE Network’s new U.S. home, Peacock.

And hey, by the time we get there, Bálor & Kross might be NXT Tag champs. Karrion’s partner Scarlett interrupted their staredown to say her tarot cards foretold two champions draped in gold. Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch arrived moments later, and Scarlett convinced them to put their NXT Tag titles on the line later tonight.

NXT doesn’t tell the “guys in a singles feud team up” story as often as the main roster, but with reports of a COVID outbreak and at least two matches announced last week dropped from tonight’s show (Swerve Scott vs. Leon Ruff and Timothy Thatcher & Tommaso Ciampa vs. Imperium), this let them book a dandy main event for tonight as they were pushing TakeOver’s main event.

Keep up with everything that happens between now and tonight’s Tag Team championship match in our live blog here.
