The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Fastlane event set to take place on Sun., Mar. 21, 2021, at the ThunderDome inside Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. This will be the sixth show bearing the name and will be the final stop on PPV before WrestleMania 37 in April.
We’re just one week from showtime and only three matches are official for the show so far:
- Roman Reigns (c) vs. Daniel Bryan (Universal championship)
After Bryan earned a Universal title shot by winning an Elimination Chamber match and Reigns gave it to him literally right after that grueling cage encounter, he worked his way back to another title shot by defeating Jey Uso. Now, Edge vs. Uso will take place on SmackDown this week to determine who will act as “Special enforcer” for the match. The winner wrestles Edge for the title at WrestleMania 37.
- Big E (c) vs. Apollo Crews (Intercontinental championship)
Crews recently turned heel, taking out his frustrations on Big E with some steel steps in an injury angle that saw the champ miss three weeks of television. While he was out, Crews embraced his Nigerian roots and seems to be in line for something of a push. We’ll see if that means taking the title here.
- Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler (c) vs. Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair (Women’s tag team championship)
Belair will challenge Banks for the SmackDown women’s championship at WrestleMania 37 but before all that they’ll try to win the tag team titles together. They’ve been bickering while trying to work as a team, of course. But Jax is distracted by Reginald. We shall see.
That’s the card so far.
There are only a few weeks between this show and WrestleMania 37, and even that card seems largely up in the air. So there are hardly any rumors surrounding this card either. The Dirty Dawgs may be defending the SmackDown tag team titles. Otherwise, who knows.
