Less than an hour after they were named the first ever NXT Women’s Tag Team champions, Dakota Kai & Raquel González had their first defense.
And their reign looked to be in trouble right from the start. Dusty Classic runners up Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon came in hot, and Blackheart had Kai trapped in a Cloverleaf submission a minute into the match.

Dakota fought her way to the ropes though, and once she tagged González in, well... we’ve seen how that’s gone for every woman in NXT over the past six months or so.
Shotzi survived the Big Texan’s barrage, and a Moon led flurry isolated Kai after Blackheart flew sent Raquel into the announce desk.

That, and a malfunction at the junction on their assisted Go To Kick, left Kai alone. González recovered to break up a pin after a tandem move by Shotzi & Ember. When Raquel went tumbling over the top rope, Blackheart rolled and stacked up Kai.
New champs!
