Due to injury, Keith Lee was unable to wrestle at tonight’s (Sun., Feb. 21, 2021) WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view (PPV) at the ThunderDome at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. On the Kickoff show, John Morrison won a Fatal 4-Way for the right to replace him.
That set the stage for the triple threat United States championship match originally booked for the show with Morrison subbing in to take on Riddle and the titleholder entering the match, The Hurt Business’s Bobby Lashley.
With Lee out, it sure felt like this would be a glorified squash match and that’s certainly how they played it off the rip. Lashley mauled Morrison, and then he tossed Riddle, and then rocked Morrison before blasting Riddle again. Finally, the two realized their only hope was to team up with each other against the big fella.
Once they got him out of the way, they put together a fun little scrap that ended when Lashley got back in. This time, Morrison attempted to use MVP’s crutch on Lashley but ended up in the Hurt Lock. That ended up giving Riddle an opening to use the crutch himself, breaking it on Bobby’s back. He followed that up hitting his finish on Morrison and scoring the pinfall to win the title.
