WWE Elimination Chamber 2021 predictions

WWE returns to pay-per-view (PPV) — if your cable provider is carrying the event, of course — tomorrow night (Sun., Feb. 21, 2021) from the ThunderDome at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, with its Elimination Chamber event starting at 6:00 pm ET with the Kickoff show leading right on into the main course at 7 pm ET on the WWE Network.

Luckily for you Cagesiders, our staff of learned wrestling blowhards is here to help figure out just how the event is going to play out with predictions for each match on the card.

Let’s get to it.

Elimination Chamber predictions

Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles vs. Kofi Kingston

Geno Mrosko: There’s been a severe failing in building up potential challengers for McIntyre’s throne because it legitimately doesn’t feel as though anyone here will beat him or should even be in the match with him. It’s possible they go the Sheamus route but that seems like a real bad idea this close to WrestleMania. Where is Brock Lesnar when you need him? Pick: Drew McIntyre

Sean Rueter: All I know is Miz better cash-in here, or his decision to bypass having two title shots rather than just one is dumb, even for him. But if he does cash-in, I hope he loses, because (in kayfabe) he’s an idiot who I’d like to see humiliated. Pick: Drew McIntyre

Kyle Decker: There’s a part of me that wants to pick AJ Styles so they can set up AJ vs. Edge at WrestleMania. But I think Edge most likely faces Roman and if that’s the case, there’s no reason to take the belt off Drew for any of these other guys right now (I’d also like to see Big E somehow cost Styles as revenge for the Rumble and set up that feud for Mania, despite being on different brands). Pick: Drew McIntyre

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: Drew barely snakes one out in a finish that doesn’t include Sheamus, setting him up for one last title defense on the Road to WrestleMania before we figure out exactly how he’s gonna defend against somebody that’s actually interesting at WrestleMania. Pick: Drew McIntyre

Cain A. Knight: Nope, I just can’t buy into the idea that Sheamus is a plausible WWE champion in 2021. Sheamus is the kind of wrestler who loses the SmackDown tag titles to Shane McMahon in 2019, and loses the Raw tag titles to Some Kid in 2018. It’s at least five years since he’s been a top guy. Pick: Drew McIntyre

Stella Cheeks: Sheamus the 2021 WWE Champion? Not in this economy. Pick: Drew McIntyre

Kevin Owens vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Cesaro vs. Sami Zayn vs. Jey Uso vs. King Corbin

Geno Mrosko: My head tells me Kevin Owens wins and we get yet another Reigns vs. Owens match but my heart wants Daniel Bryan to pull it out. Ah, to hell with it. Pick: Daniel Bryan

Sean Rueter: The Tribal Chief helps his cousin win, thinking it will ensure an easy match for him. Either Jey lays down for Roman, or he has a change of heart and catches another uncomfortable. Edge to the rescue, WrestleMania here we come. Pick: Jey Uso

Kyle Decker: The winner of this match will get a maybe 10 minute match with Roman afterwards and that will probably be it. So if that’s the case, may as well use it to elevate someone. It really is a perfect spot for Cesaro, who can go the distance in the Chamber and then put on a banger with Roman for 10 minutes. Even in a loss, he’ll come out looking like a star. Pick: Cesaro

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: Give KO the nod, Roman completely cheats him out of the match somehow, they finally settle things over the next few weeks and we set up Edge to take the title off the Big Dog at Mania. Pick: Kevin Owens

Cain A. Knight: Corbin and Zayn can be ruled out. A decent argument can be made for each of the other four men as potential winners. It really doesn’t matter though, because none of them stand a chance in the Universal championship match. Pick: Kevin Owens

Stella Cheeks: As much as I would like to see someone like Cesaro or Daniel Bryan win it makes sense for KO to take home the W and immediately get screwed by the champ. He’s got history with Roman and another loss to him and his manipulative ways won’t hurt KO like it would hurt someone like Cesaro who deserves a real shot at the title. It would also set up Edge picking Roman. Canadians got to stick together. Pick: Kevin Owens

Roman Reigns vs. TBA

Geno Mrosko: There is a zero percent chance of a title change, no matter who wins that first match. Pick: Roman Reigns

Sean Rueter: Look, TBA is no Vacant. Pick: Roman Reigns

Kyle Decker: Whoever wins the Chamber, Roman wins this match. Pick: Roman Reigns

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: I, for one, acknowledge Roman Reigns as my tribal chief and head of the table. Pick: Roman Reigns

Cain A. Knight: Roman Reigns is going to show up and win. Pick: Roman Reigns

Stella Cheeks: LMFAO is this a real question? Pick: Roman Reigns

Bobby Lashley vs. Keith Lee vs. Matt Riddle

Geno Mrosko: You’re telling me Keith Lee is in this match? Huh. Okay. Well. Uh. Yeah, I got nothing. Pick: Bobby Lashley

Sean Rueter: The general WTF of Lee’s whole situation makes this an odd one. Before he disappeared I was going to pick him so Lashley could focus on wishing really hard for a Brock Lesnar match in Tampa. Now I don’t even know if he’s in the match. Either this card is going to be very predictable, or almost everyone is going to do as crappy on this set of predictions as I do on every set of predictions. Pick: Bobby Lashley

Kyle Decker: There’s no indication that they’re looking to put the US belt on Lee or Riddle. They need to figure out what to do with Lashley after this because he’s kind of been meandering, despite being booked strong. Pick: Bob Lashley

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: Bobby Lashley has been on a tear, Riddle acts and is treated like a dork (and I’m not complaining), and Keith Lee has been MIA for half the build. The Hurt Business is booming, babes. Pick: Bobby Lashley

Cain A. Knight: WWE tells me nearly every single week that Matt Riddle doesn’t belong in the same ring as Bobby Lashley. Keith Lee is missing. Pick: Bobby Lashley

Stella Cheeks: Bob is doing a great job and will continue to make his sisters proud. Pick: Bobby Lashley

Asuka vs. Lacey Evans

Geno Mrosko: We included this because WWE still hasn’t officially taken it off the card. Pick: Asuka, who wins an impromptu match against Billie Kay, who was just trying to deliver a resume.

Sean Rueter: ... ... ... Pick: Asuka

Kyle Decker: I’ve learned recently never to pick against a Flair. And with a small Flair germinating inside Lacey Evans, the choice is easy. Pick: Lacey Evans

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: Nevermind whether or not the match is happening, Lacey just isn’t ready for Asuka. Also I’d like to officially register my complaint that the whole angle sucks and is gross and I don’t like it. Pick: Asuka

Cain A. Knight: I’m pretty sure they’ll bring back the Fingerpoke of Doom here, so that Lacey can win the title without taking a bump. If you think about it, taking a dive so that pregnant Lacey can be champ is the best way for Asuka to get revenge on Charlotte for ending her undefeated streak three years ago. Pick: Lacey Evans

Stella Cheeks: I don’t know how it happens but it happens Pick: Charlotte Flair

Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax vs. Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair

Geno Mrosko: I could see putting the titles on Banks and Belair and having them work all kinds of shows while progressing their feud the entire way. Actually, I really like that idea and hope they go through with it. I’m also tired of Jax and Baszler, so that’s influences my decision here. Pick: Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair

Sean Rueter: A way to put over an odd couple team of singles stars that don’t need the tag belts for their program that would also screw up both both NXT’s teased clash between Dakota Kai & Shayna Baszler AND the long-simmering Lana/Nia Jax angle on Raw? Brilliant! On the plus side, however many matches The Boss & The EST have before breaking up will be superb. Pick: Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair

Kyle Decker: NXT spent last Wednesday setting up Dakota Kai & Raquel González to challenge the current Women’s tag team champs. Now it’s not impossible that Vince was like “Meh, don’t care” and will go for the change. But given Banks & Belair are destined to face each other at Mania, I think it’s more likely this match really puts that in motion. Pick: Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax

Rev. Claire Elizabeth: The women’s tag division is failing to hold my interest, title changes are interesting, let’s do it. Pick: Bianca Belair & Sasha Banks

Cain A. Knight: Putting the tag titles on Banks and Belair for now, so they can lose the gold and have a bad blow up before they fight at WrestleMania, sounds about right. Also, Raw would certainly benefit from the presence of Banks and Belair, and being tag champions is one way to make that happen. Pick: Bianca Belair & Sasha Banks

Stella Cheeks: Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks are destined to battle at WrestleMania. Sure, they could have made it simple and just had Bianca say “hey I wanna fight Sasha” but that’s not the WWE way. Nothing says “I wanna kick your ass” than blaming the other for a big fat embarrassing loss. Not to mention the fact that Shayna & Nia have a NXT date with Dakota Kai & Raquel González. Pick: Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax

That’s how we see the card playing out.
