WWE is dragging out the process of the Royal Rumble winners selecting who they want to challenge for their respective titles at WrestleMania 37 but it’s becoming increasingly obvious which direction they’re going.
This week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown gave us Bianca Belair (the women’s Royal Rumble winner) teaming with SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks to earn a shot at the women’s tag team titles at Elimination Chamber. It seems clear where that’s headed.
Meanwhile, Edge (the men’s Royal Rumble winner) and Reigns have been arguing for a couple weeks and then this week’s show ended like this:

Of course, they have to play it this way, at least in terms of Edge’s decision, because Reigns is scheduled to defend the Universal championship against the winner of an Elimination Chamber match earlier in the evening. There’s no reason to think he won’t win, but it makes no sense to give that away beforehand.
Still, it’s clear where we’re headed.
