It didn’t take long for the Women’s title Triple Threat at TakeOver: Vengeance Day to get started. Mercedes Martinez & Toni Storm teamed up to jump champion Io Shirai while ring announcer Alicia Taylor was just getting into her introductions.
That wasn’t enough to take the Genius of the Sky out of the action, but she was the first one sidelined for a spell in traditional Triple Threat form.

And after this one, the challengers sent Io into the ring steps and headed to the center of the ring for a one-on-one battle.

The 2018 Mae Young Classic looked to have another win over Shirai in the bad after hitting Storm’s End on Martinez and following up with a flying headbutt. But the champ recovered to hit a moonsault from the top onto both women, and pin Mercedes to continue her eight month reign.
