With the Dusty Cup finals set, so is TakeOver: Vengeance Day’s card

With Johnny Gargano’s “injury” proving to just be a charade (or as General Manager William Regal says, a “sha-raad”), the only two unknowns for TakeOver: Vengeance Day this Sunday involved the finals of the Men’s and Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournaments.

Predictably, babyfaces Ember Moon & Shotzi Blackheart defeated The Way’s Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell, with Hartwell taking the pin.

That sets up a good vs. evil battle for the cup against Raquel González & Dakota Kai, which we learned tonight will be for a shot at the WWE Women’s Tag Team championship.

Neither of the Men’s finalists were set heading into Feb. 10’s go home show. Those also resulted in a traditional heel vs. face match-up that many fans predicted. In the first match of the night, MSK won a sprint over Legado Del Fantasma, thanks to Wes Lee and Nash Carter’s innovative offense.

Then in the main event, Grizzled Young Veterans punished Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher after the latter duo’s brutal win over Undisputed ERA last Wednesday. With Thatcher sent over the barricade, a Ticket To Mayhem proved to be too much for Ciampa.

With that taken care of, NXT’s card for Valentine’s Day was set. After GYV and MSK jawed with one another around the Men’s Dusty Cup, each of these Vengeance Day competitors came out for a show closing staredown...
