NXT wrote former Women’s Tag champ Zoey Stark off television last Tuesday (Nov. 2) when current champions Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne attacked her backstage.
Reports followed that the injury was legitimate, and that it would require surgery. Now, Stark’s confirmed all that, while sticking with the storyline explanation that Toxic Attraction’s assault was the cause:
Sadly, I tore my ACL/Meniscus due to Toxic's attack. Here's the bad news for the "champs". Surgery went great and I'm already rehabbing. I'll be back BETTER & STRONGER with three targets in mind! Until then @shirai_io @KacyCatanzaro @wwekayden kick their ass tonight!@WWENXT

Stark, whose real name is Theresa Serrano, and who wrestled as Lacy Ryan prior to signing with WWE at the start of this year, was given a push right out of the gate with NXT. That culminated in winning the Tag belts with Io Shirai at The Great American Bash. They held them until Halloween Havoc, where Dolin & Jayne won them in a ladder match that also featured Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta.
No word on how long Stark will be out. Shirai looks to be moving back into the singles scene in pursuit of NXT Women’s champion Mandy Rose, but first will team with Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter against Toxic Attraction tonight (Nov. 9).
Join us in wishing Zoey a speedy & complete recovery.
