It’s Keith Lee’s 37th birthday today (Nov. 8), and the former NXT champion has chosen it to make his first statement since WWE released him last week.
While both the tweet and the screenshotted note attached to it are filled with the optimism Lee was known for before his recent company-dictated “Bearcat” transformation, he does use the opportunity to make it clear he was the one footing the bill for ongoing health issues earlier this year:
Thank you for all the positivity that has been dropped on me the past few days as well as the birthday wishes. I love you. Worry not. We are not done. We work.#BaskInMyGlory #iAmLimitless pic.twitter.com/NkxqL6qkWM

Greetings and salutations. This day is my birthday! It is not a happy birthday, but is is one I am most grateful for. Several months ago, it was not a guarantee I would make it to this day, so there is a positivity in that. I paid all my medical bills from the many offices and machines I frequented. There is positivity in that. And, I do find it amusing that people believe anyone but me paid for my medical expenses.
I was going to wait a couple weeks, but I think it’s time to look toward the future, forward march as I like to say. I am capable of so much more and I can’t wait to see what it looks like properly. I have a wide array of interests and abilities....I also consider myself to be rather open minded. Here’s to a future that, for all intents and purposes....seems Limitless.
While not quite to level of Nia Jax’s statement, Lee is the latest talent fired on Nov. 4 to speak freely about their time in WWE, or even be openly critical of the company. Perhaps it’s because, like Jax, the rumor mill was quickly full of reports about their behind-the-scenes attitude and behavior.
It’s probably too soon to conclude why Lee, Jax or Taya Valkyrie are speaking up so quickly, at least when compared to past groups of “future endeavors”. But it seems worth noting.
Let us know what you think, Cagesiders.
