WWE unexpectedly announces 2021 Survivor Series teams in the least exciting way possible (UPDATED)

To date, there has been shockingly little mention of Survivor Series on Raw and SmackDown.

Usually, by the time the calendar’s turned to November, we start hearing about “the one time of year the stars of the Red & Blue Brands collide!” Wrestlers are mentioning wanting to be on a traditional elimination tag team, or lobbying for a captaincy. Maybe there’s even been an invasion already.

Not in 2021. This year’s been pretty quiet. And then, 3pm ET on Sat., Nov. 6, the company’s Twitter account announced the men’s and women’s teams from both shows would be rolled out on social media.

Maybe a bunch of qualifying matches where stars faced enhancement talents wouldn’t have made for must see TV, but this was still the least interesting, most devoid of any kind of story or context way to set-up the signature matches at a “Big 4” event.

“We make movies,” indeed.

Anyway, here’s the 2021 Survivor Series teams...

Raw Men’s Team

  1. Seth Rollins
  2. Finn Bálor
  3. Kevin Owens
  4. Rey Mysterio
  5. Dominik Mysterio

SmackDown Men’s Team

  1. Drew McIntyre
  2. Jeff Hardy
  3. King Woods
  4. Sami Zayn
  5. Happy Corbin (with Madcap Moss)

Raw Women’s Team

  1. Bianca Belair
  2. Rhea Ripley
  3. Liv Morgan
  4. Carmella
  5. Queen Zelina

SmackDown Women’s Team

  1. Sasha Banks
  2. Shayna Baszler
  3. Shotzi
  4. Natalya
  5. Aliyah

Thoughts on the teams? Are you more excited for Survivor Series (on Sun., Nov. 21 from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center) after these riveting Twitter threads?
